I asked Anas ibn Mālik: Did the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) use to pray with his shoes on? He said: Yes!
Maslamah Sa‘īd ibn Yazīd reported: I asked Anas ibn Mālik: "Did the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) use to pray with his shoes on?" He said: ‘Yes!'
If anyone of you is praying behind something that conceals him from people and somebody tries to pass in front of him, he should push him away; if he refuses, the praying person should use force against him for he is a devil
Abu Sa‘īd al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If anyone of you is praying behind something that conceals him from people and somebody tries to pass in front of him, he should push him away; if he refuses, the praying person should use force against him for he is a devil." Another narration reads: "If anyone of you is praying, he should not let anyone pass in front of him; if he refuses then use force, for he has a (devil) companion with him."
Take this curtain of yours away, for its images come to my mind while I'm praying
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: ‘Ā'ishah had a (patterned) curtain with which she screened the side of her home. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Take this curtain of yours away, for its images come to my mind while I'm praying."
Yawning inside the prayer is from the devil, so if anyone of you yawns, let him suppress it as much as he can
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yawning inside the prayer is from the devil, so if anyone of you yawns, let him suppress it as much as he can."
إذا أقيمت الصلاة فلا تأتوها تسعون
عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «إذا أقيمت الصلاة فلا تأتوها تَسْعَون، وأْتُوها تمشون، عليكم السكينة، فما أدركتم فصلوا، وما فاتكم فأتموا».
When the heat is intense, delay the prayer until it becomes fairly cool, for intense heat is from the boiling and breathing of Hellfire
‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar, Abu Hurayrah, and Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with them) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the heat is intense, delay the prayer until it becomes fairly cool, for intense heat is from the boiling and breathing of Hellfire."

Al-Barā' ibn ‘Āzib (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I watched the prayer of Muhammad (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and found his standing, his bowing, standing after bowing, prostration, sitting between the two prostrations, prostration, and sitting between Taslīm and going away, nearly equal to one another.' Another narration reads: ''Except the standing and the sitting, (other postures) were nearly equal.”
If the person passing in front of someone praying knew the extent of the guilt he is incurring, he would prefer to stand for forty rather than pass in front him
Busr ibn Sa‘īd reported that Zayd ibn Khālid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) sent him to Abu Juhaym (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask him about what he heard from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about the one who passes in front of the praying person. Abu Juhaym said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If the person passing in front of someone praying knew the extent of the guilt he is incurring, he would prefer to stand for forty rather than pass in front him." Abu an-Nadr said: I am not sure if he said forty days, months, or years.
We used to pray and animals would pass in front of us. We mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) so he said: If anything, like the back of the saddle, is placed in front of anyone of you, then nothing that passes in front of him (but behind that thing) can harm him
Talhah ibn ‘Ubaydullāh (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: We used to pray and animals would pass in front of us. We mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) so he said: "If anything, like the back of the saddle, is placed in front of anyone of you, then nothing that passes in front of him (but behind that thing) can harm him."

Sabrah ibn Ma‘bad al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When anyone of you prays, let him do so behind a barrier, even if an arrow."
When one of you stands up to pray, he should put a screen in front of him as tall as the height of the back of a saddle. If he does not have something the height of the back of a saddle in front of him, his prayer would be invalidated if a donkey, a woman, or a black dog passed in front of him
Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When one of you stands up to pray, he should put a screen in front of him as tall as the height of the back of a saddle. If he does not have something the height of the back of a saddle in front of him, his prayer would be invalidated if a donkey, a woman, or a black dog passed in front of him." I asked: “O Abu Dharr, what is the difference between a black dog and a red or a yellow dog?” He said: “O nephew, I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) the same question and he answered: "A black dog is a devil.” According to a narration by Ibn ‘Abbās: "Prayer is invalidated by [the passing of] a menstruating woman and a dog."
Take this garment of mine to Abu Jahm and bring me his plain garment, because this one has distracted me from my prayer
‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) prayed wearing a striped garment and glanced at the stripes. When he had finished, he said: "Take this garment of mine to Abu Jahm and bring me his plain garment, because this one has distracted me from my prayer." In another narration: "I was looking at the stripes while I was praying, so I fear that it will distract me."
O people, there is nothing remaining of the glad tidings of prophet-hood except a good vision that a Muslim sees or someone else sees it for him. Verily, I have been forbidden to recite the Qur'an while bowing or prostrating
Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) drew the curtain (of his chamber) aside to see the people standing in rows behind Abu Bakr in prayer. He then said: "O people, there is nothing remaining of the glad tidings of prophet-hood except a good vision that a Muslim sees or someone else sees it for him. Verily, I have been forbidden to recite the Qur'an while bowing or prostrating. So, while bowing, glorify the Lord, and while prostrating, engage in supplication diligently, for it is most likely that your supplications would be answered."
هذا كهذ الشعر، لقد عرفت النظائر التي كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يقرن بينهن
عن أبي وائل قال: جاء رجل إلى ابن مسعود، فقال: قرأت المفصل الليلة في ركعة، فقال: «هَذًّا كهَذِّ الشِّعْر، لقد عرفت النظائر التي كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يقرن بينهن، فذكر عشرين سورة من المُفصَّل، سورتين في كل ركعة».
يا أبا بكر ارفع من صوتك شيئاً
عن أبي قتادة: أن النبيَّ -صلَّى الله عليه وسلم- خَرَجَ ليلةً فإذا هو بأبي بكر يُصلَّي يَخْفِضُ من صوته، قال: ومرَ بعمر بن الخطَاب وهو يُصلّي رافعاً صوته، قال: فلما اجتمعا عندَ النبيَّ -صلَّى الله عليه وسلم- قال النبي -صلَّى الله عليه وسلم-: "يا أبا بكر، مررتُ بكَ وأنت تُصلّي تَخْفِضُ صوتَك" قال: قد أسمعتُ من ناجيْتُ يا رسولَ الله، قال: وقال لعمر: "مررتُ بك وأنتَ تُصلّي رافعاً صوتك"قال: فقال: يا رسولَ الله، أُوقظُ الوَسْنان، وأطْردُ الشيطان، فقال النبي -صلَّى الله عليه وسلم-: "يا أبا بكر، ارفَعْ مِن صَوتك شيئاً"، وقال لعمر: "اخْفِضْ مِن صوتك شيئاً".
شدة الحر من فيح جهنم، فإذا اشتد الحر فأبردوا عن الصلاة
عن أبي ذر قال: أذَّن مؤذِّن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم الظهرَ، فقال: «أَبْرِدْ أَبْرِدْ» أو قال: «انتظر انتظر» وقال: «شدة الحر من فيح جهنم، فإذا اشتد الحر فأبردوا عن الصلاة» حتى رأينا فَيْءَ التُّلُول.
رأيت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يصلي يومَ الفتح ووضع نعليه عن يساره
عن عبد الله بن السائب قال: رأيت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يصلي يومَ الفتح ووضع نعليه عن يساره.
أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كان إذا خرج يوم العيد أمر بالحربة، فتوضع بين يديه، فيصلي إليها
عن ابن عمر: أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كان إذا خرج يوم العيد أمر بالحَرْبة، فتوضع بين يديه، فيصلي إليها والناس وراءه، وكان يفعل ذلك في السفر، فمن ثَمَّ اتخذها الأمراء.
إذا صلى أحدكم إلى سترة فليدن منها، لا يقطع الشيطان عليه صلاته
عن سهل بن أبي حَثْمة قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «إذا صلى أحدكم إلى سترة فليدن منها، لا يقطع الشيطان عليه صلاته».
كان بين مُصلَّى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وبين الجدار ممر الشاة
عن سهل بن سعد قال: «كان بين مُصلَّى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وبين الجدار ممر الشاة».
يقطع الصلاة المرأة والحمار والكلب، ويَقِي ذلك مثل مُؤْخِرة الرَّحْل
عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «يقطع الصلاة المرأة والحمار والكلب، ويَقِي ذلك مثل مُؤْخِرة الرَّحْل».
هبطنا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من ثنية أَذَاخِر
عن عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص قال: هبطنا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من ثنية أَذَاخِر، فحضرت الصلاة فصلى -يعني إلى جَدْر-، فاتخذه قبلة ونحن خلفه، فجاءت بَهْمَةٌ تمر بين يديه، فما زال يُدارِئها حتى لصق بطنه بالجدر، ومرت من ورائه.
ما رأيت أحدا أحسن صلاة من ابن جريج
عن عبد الرزاق قال: (أهل مكة يقولون: أخذ ابن جريج الصلاة من عطاء، وأخذها عطاء من ابن الزبير، وأخذها ابن الزبير من أبي بكر، وأخذها أبو بكر من النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، ما رأيت أحدا أحسن صلاة من ابن جريج).
كان إذا قام من الركعتين رفع يديه
عن نافع أن ابن عمر كان إذا دخل في الصلاة كبر ورفع يديه، وإذا ركع رفع يديه، وإذا قال: سمع الله لمن حمده. رفع يديه، وإذا قام من الركعتين رفع يديه، ورفع ذلك ابن عمر إلى نبي الله صلى الله عليه وسلم.
كان الناس يؤمرون أن يضع الرجل اليد اليمنى على ذراعه اليسرى في الصلاة
عن أبي حازم عن سهل بن سعد قال: كان الناس يؤمرون أن يضع الرجل اليد اليمنى على ذراعه اليسرى في الصلاة. قال أبو حازم: لا أعلمه إلا ينمي ذلك إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم.
كنا نقرأ في الظهر والعصر خلف الإمام في الركعتين الأوليين بفاتحة الكتاب وسورة، وفي الأخريين بفاتحة الكتاب
عن جابر بن عبد الله قال: كنا نقرأ في الظهر والعصر خلف الإمام في الركعتين الأوليين بفاتحة الكتاب وسورة، وفي الأخريين بفاتحة الكتاب.
قرأ النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فيما أُمر وسكت فيما أُمر
عن ابن عباس قال: قرأ النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فيما أُمر وسكت فيما أُمر، {وما كان ربك نسيا} [مريم: 64] {لقد كان لكم في رسول الله أسوة حسنة} [الأحزاب: 21].
كان يقرأ في ركعتي الفجر في الأولى منهما: {قولوا آمنا بالله وما أنزل إلينا}
عن ابن عباس أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يقرأ في ركعتي الفجر في الأولى منهما: {قولوا آمنا بالله وما أنزل إلينا} [البقرة: 136] الآية التي في البقرة، وفي الآخرة منهما: {آمنا بالله واشهد بأنا مسلمون} [آل عمران: 52]، وفي رواية عنه قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقرأ في ركعتي الفجر: {قولوا آمنا بالله وما أنزل إلينا} [البقرة: 136]، والتي في آل عمران: {تعالوا إلى كلمة سواء بيننا وبينكم} [آل عمران: 64].
أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يقرأ في الظهر والعصر بالسماء والطارق، والسماء ذات البروج
عن جابر بن سمرة أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يقرأ في الظهر والعصر بالسماء والطارق، والسماء ذات البروج، ونحوهما من السور.
يا بني، والله لقد ذكَّرتني بقراءتك هذه السورة، إنها لَآخر ما سمعت من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقرأ بها في المغرب
عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما أنه قال: إن أم الفضل سمعته وهو يقرأ: {والمرسلات عُرفًا} [المرسلات: 1] فقالت: يا بني، والله لقد ذكَّرتني بقراءتك هذه السورة، إنها لَآخر ما سمعت من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقرأ بها في المغرب.

عن بريدة قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقرأ في العِشاء الآخرة بالشمس وضحاها، ونحوها من السور.
إنما سُنَّة الصلاة أن تنصب رجلك اليمنى وتَثني اليسرى
عن عبد الله بن عبد الله أنه كان يرى عبد الله بن عمر رضي الله عنهما يتربع في الصلاة إذا جلس، ففعلتُه وأنا يومئذ حديث السن، فنهاني عبد الله بن عمر، وقال: إنما سُنَّة الصلاة أن تنصب رجلك اليمنى وتَثني اليسرى. فقلت: إنك تفعل ذلك. فقال: إن رجلي لا تحملاني.
كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا قعد في الصلاة جعل قدمه اليسرى بين فخذه وساقه
عن عبد الله بن الزبير قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا قعد في الصلاة جعل قدمه اليسرى بين فخذه وساقه، وفرش قدمه اليمنى، ووضع يده اليسرى على ركبته اليسرى، ووضع يده اليمنى على فخذه اليمنى، وأشار بإصبعه.
من السُّنَّة أن يُخْفِيَ التشهد
عن عبد الله بن مسعود قال: من السنة أن يُخْفِيَ التشهد.
I used to see the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) making Taslīm (salutation of peace ending the prayer) to his right and to his left, until I could see the whiteness of his cheek

أن رفع الصوت بالذكر حين ينصرف الناس من المكتوبة كان على عهد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم
عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما أن رفع الصوت بالذكر حين ينصرف الناس من المكتوبة كان على عهد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم. وقال: كنتُ أعلم إذا انصرفوا بذلك إذا سمعته.
لقد رأيت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كثيرًا ينصرف عن يساره
عن عبد الله بن مسعود أنه قال: لا يجعلْ أحدُكم للشيطان شيئًا من صلاته، يَرَى أن حقًّا عليه ألا ينصرف إلا عن يمينه، لقد رأيت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كثيرًا ينصرف عن يساره.
كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، إذا قال: «سمع الله لمن حمده» قام، حتى نقول قد أوهم
عن أنس قال: ما صليتُ خلفَ أحدٍ أوجزَ صلاةً من صلاة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في تمام، كانت صلاة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم متقاربةً، وكانت صلاة أبي بكر متقاربة، فلما كان عمر بن الخطاب مد في صلاة الفجر، وكان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، إذا قال: «سمع الله لمن حمده» قام، حتى نقول قد أوهم، ثم يسجد ويقعد بين السجدتين حتى نقول قد أوهم.
إن الله عز وجل وملائكته يصلون على الصفوف الأول
عن البراء بن عازب قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يتخلل الصف من ناحية إلى ناحية، يمسح صدورنا ومناكبنا ويقول: "لا تختلفوا فتختلف قلوبكم" وكان يقول: "إن الله عز وجل وملائكته يصلون على الصفوف الأول".
إذا توضأ أحدكم فأحسن وضوءه ثم خرج عامدا إلى المسجد فلا يشبكن يديه
عن كعب بن عُجْرَة قال: إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: "إذا توضأ أحدكم فأحسن وضوءَه ثم خرج عامدًا إلى المسجد فلا يشبِكنَّ يديه، فإنه في صلاة".
كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يصلي على الخمرة
عن ميمونة قالت: كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يصلي على الخُمْرة.

Abu Juhaym ibn al-Hārith ibn As-Simmah al-Ansāri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported directly from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "If the one passing in front of a person who is praying would know the gravity of his sin, it would have been better for him to stand for forty than to pass in front him." Abu An-Nadr said: "I am not sure if he said forty days, months, or years."

Were people to know what is in the call and the first row and then they could do nothing but to draw lots for it, they would draw lots
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Were people to know what is in the call and the first row and then they could do nothing but to draw lots for it, they would draw lots. Were they to know what is in performing the prayer early, they would race to it. Were they to know what is in the darkness and the morning, they would come to them even if they had to crawl."
