Privacy Policy

Welcome to azkar.me - أذكاري ("we," "our," or "us"). This policy covers two things together: the azkar.me website, and the أذكاري: أذكار وقرآن وصلاة (Azkar Muslim) app for Android and iOS (package com.eslam.freezikr) by developer EslamFaisal.

By using the service, you also agree to our Terms of Service.

In short: the app and the site work fully without an account. Only if you choose to sign in (with Google or Apple) do we collect your email address and name, to run the account and sync your data. We do not sell your data, we show no ads inside the app, and we never use your data for personalized advertising.

The table below is the same disclosure filed in the Google Play "Data safety" section. None of it is collected outside the situation named next to it:

All transfers use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and are stored on Google Firebase servers.

The following never leaves your device and never reaches our servers:

• Location: used on-device to compute prayer times and the qibla direction (or you pick your city manually). We never upload or store your coordinates.
• The mushaf pages and audio files you download.
• Alarm and reminder schedules and their background playback.
• Website display preferences (language, theme, text size, counter progress) in your browser.

• Contacts, address book, or calendar.
• Photos, media, or files from your device.
• Camera or screen recording. The microphone is used only when you start recording a voice message to Zakir yourself (see "Voice messages" in the Zakir section below).
• Health or fitness data.
• Card or payment details — purchases run entirely inside Google Play or the App Store, and we never see them.
• Web browsing history, or the text of what you search inside the app.
• Advertising ID — it is stripped from the app, and the app shows no ads.

We do not sell your data or share it with data brokers or advertisers.

Accounts are optional. You can read azkar and the Qur'an, use prayer times and reminders without signing in. Signing in (Google or Apple) enables cloud backup, cross-device sync, the leaderboard, and sending problem reports.

The username you choose is visible to other users on the leaderboard together with your points. Your email address, real name, and photo are never shown to other users.

Zakir is the AI assistant inside the Azkar app. Zakir is a computer program, not a sheikh and not a mufti. It does not issue a fatwa or a religious ruling; it answers from trusted sources and shows them to you so you can read them yourself. For a ruling on your own case, ask a scholar you trust.

Zakir is optional, requires signing in, and is being opened to people in groups. Everything else in the app — azkar, the Qur'an, hadith, prayer times, reminders, the counter and favourites — works exactly as before without Zakir and without an account.

What is sent when you ask

When you send a question, the following is sent to our servers and then to Google's Vertex AI service (Google Cloud) to prepare the answer:

• The text of your question, and the earlier questions and answers in the same chat.
• A reference to the zikr or verse you are asking from, if you started the question on its page.
• Your personalization choices — only if you turned personalization on, and only as short codes from a closed list, never as free text.
• What Zakir remembers about you, if your plan includes it — and only what you approved yourself.
• If your plan includes it and you ask about your progress, reminders or settings: only the part needed for the answer, read on your device and sent with your question.

Your email address, your real name and your location are not sent. Your questions and Zakir's answers are not used to train any AI model, are not attached to crash reports or analytics events, and are never used for advertising.

Voice, and the settings you ask it to change

• Voice messages (on plans that include them): nothing is recorded until you start a recording, and it stops when you stop it or after 60 seconds. Your phone turns your speech into text on the device where it can; you see and can edit the text before sending, and nothing is sent automatically. When you send, the recording and the text you approved are stored privately in your account with that chat message, so you can play your question again. Only your account can read them, and they are never shared by link.
• Google Cloud speech services (optional): if your phone cannot recognize your speech, you may choose "Transcribe in the cloud" — we ask each time — and the recording is sent to Google Cloud Speech-to-Text for that request only. If you use "Play answer" or voice-conversation mode, the answer text may be sent to Google Cloud Text-to-Speech; Qur'an and zikr text is never sent to it.
• Support access: an administrator can play a recording only for a specific support or safety reason, one message at a time, and every access is recorded in an audit log. Recordings and their text are never written to analytics, crash reports or technical logs.
• Settings you ask it to change (on plans that include it): when you ask Zakir to set a reminder or change a setting, it shows you the change, and your device applies it only after you confirm it yourself.

What is stored

What Zakir never stores about you

None of the following is ever kept as something Zakir "remembers" about you, even if you mention it in a question:

• Signs of severe distress or self-harm.
• A sin or a personal confession.
• A question asking for a ruling on your own case.
• Information about another person.
• Health details.
• Your location.
• Your age, or any inference about your gender.
• The raw text of your messages — question text is never copied into what Zakir remembers.

Zakir also never asks for or infers your age, creates no age band, and none of its data is used for advertising or for leaderboard ranking.

Your school of fiqh — religious-belief data

Choosing a school is entirely optional, "Prefer not to say" is an equal-weight choice, and nothing is pre-selected. We treat this field as data about religious belief (a special category) with the highest level of protection.

• Its only use: when the sources carry more than one view, your school's cited view is shown first.
• It is never used to issue a ruling or a fatwa — Zakir gives no fatwa, with or without a school.
• It is never shown to another user, and never sent to analytics, crash reports or notifications.
• It is stored in your own account profile only, and you can clear it on its own at any time.

Answers are screened before you see them

Before an answer is shown, it is screened automatically: every quotation is checked against an approved source and must match it, religious text must be presented as it is, and a question asking for a fatwa or a ruling is referred to a scholar instead of answered. You can report any answer from inside the chat. When an answer is withheld, our team keeps a copy for review only; it is never shown to you.

Searching trusted websites

When this feature is switched on, Zakir may search a closed list of Islamic websites approved by the app owner, in order to show you an excerpt in that site's own words together with its link. In that case the text of your question is sent as a search query to the search service the owner uses (Google Custom Search or Vertex AI Search), restricted to that list alone. Your user ID and your email address are not sent with it. The excerpt is shown as a quotation from the site, and it is not a fatwa.

Zakir subscriptions

Zakir has a free plan to try it and monthly subscription plans (Mini, Medium and Open) bought through the App Store or Google Play; the store handles the payment entirely. From Apple or Google we receive only what is needed to grant you access: the plan, the subscription status (active, renewed, cancelled, expired, in grace, on hold or refunded), the current period, and the purchase reference the store issues so we can verify it. We never receive your card number or any payment details, and we never show purchase receipts.

Your subscription record and how much of your monthly allowance you have used are kept with your account. They stay after "Delete all Zakir data" so your access does not change, and they are removed when you delete your account. Deleting your account does not cancel the subscription in the store — cancel it in the App Store or Google Play subscription settings.

Your rights over Zakir data

• A copy of your data: in the app, "Zakir settings → Export your data" — one file with your chats and your consent records.
• Delete everything: "Zakir settings → Delete all Zakir data".
• Delete part of it: delete a single chat from "My chats", or clear any single field under "Personalization & memory".
• Deleting your account removes all Zakir data with it — see "Data Retention and Deletion" above.

The fair-use limits and the subscription are set out in the Terms of Service.

We rely on the following services to run the app; they process data on our behalf under their own policies:

Website only: with your cookie consent we may use advertising and measurement partners (such as Google AdSense). There are no ads inside the mobile app.

We use cookies and local storage for core technical purposes. With your consent, we may also use additional categories to improve functionality, experience, measurement, and marketing (personalized ads).

• Functionality: remember language and layout choices.
• Experience: improve usability and content presentation.
• Measurement: understand usage to improve the website.
• Marketing: measure ad performance and show personalized ads with consent.

You can manage your consent at any time via the preferences panel.Open preferences

All data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and is held in a Firebase project whose security rules stop any user from reading another user's data. Administrative access is limited to the app owner.

The app targets users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under that age, we delete the account and its data — you can contact us at the address below.

How long we keep data

Account data and cloud backups are kept while the account exists. Crash reports and aggregate analytics are kept for up to 14 months. Website preferences stay in your browser until you clear them.

How to delete your data

• Delete your account: in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account), or from the account page on the website. Full details on the delete account and data page.
• Signing out alone keeps your backup intact until you delete the account.
• Local data: clear app data in system settings or uninstall the app. On the web: clear site data in your browser.

You may access, correct, and delete your data, and withdraw consent. Your backup can be restored on your devices, and you can request a copy of it or its full deletion by writing to us from the email address linked to the account.

Foreground Services & Display Over Other Apps (Overlay)

The "Azkar Muslim" app utilizes Android Foreground Services (FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK and FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE) along with the "System Alert Window" (Display over other apps) permission. These are strictly used to provide core app functionalities:

1. Floating Azkar (Special Use Overlay): To display a persistent floating Zikr counter on your screen over other apps, without being terminated by the Android OS.
2. Audio Reminders (Media Playback): To reliably play scheduled background audio alarms and Azkar sounds.

The app requests only the following permissions, for the stated purpose:

• Notifications and exact alarms: for azkar reminders and prayer times.
• Location (approximate/precise): to compute prayer times and qibla on-device — optional, and you can pick your city manually instead.
• Display over other apps: for the floating zikr counter.
• Microphone (optional): to record a voice message to Zakir when you start recording yourself; speech is turned into text on the device where it can, and the recording is uploaded only when you send the message or choose "Transcribe in the cloud".

The website requests no device permissions.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post updates on this page and adjust the "Last Updated" date above.

Account and backup data is stored on Google Cloud/Firebase infrastructure and may be processed in data centres outside your country, under Google's international transfer safeguards.

The app works offline after installation: azkar, the mushaf, and prayer times live on the device. Internet is needed only for the account, sync, notifications, and content updates.

The app and website are free to use. Optional in-app purchases — a donation to support development, and Zakir subscriptions — are handled by the app store.
