Verily, the example of the righteous companion and the evil companion is like that of the carrier of the musk and the blower of the bellows
Abu Mūsa (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Verily, the example of the righteous companion and the evil companion is like that of the carrier of the musk and the blower of the bellows. The carrier of the musk will either give you, or you will buy from him, or you will get a pleasant smell from him, and the blower of the bellows will either burn your clothes or you will get an offensive smell."
Soon there will come a time when the best property of a Muslim will be sheep that he will take to the mountaintops
Abu Sa‘īd al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Soon there will come a time when the best property of a Muslim will be sheep that he will take to the mountaintops and the places of rainfall so as to flee with his religion from tribulations."
The Hour will not be established until a man would pass by the grave of another man and say: 'I wish I were in his place.'
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Hour will not be established until a man would pass by the grave of another man and say: 'I wish I were in his place.'"
{Then, on that Day, you will definitely be questioned about your worldly pleasures.}
Az-Zubayr ibn al-‘Awwām reported: When the following verse was revealed {Then, on that Day, you will definitely be questioned about your worldly pleasures.} [Surat at-Takāthur: 8], Az-Zubayr said: "O Messenger of Allah, which pleasures will we be asked about; there are only the two black things: dates and water?" He said: "This will certainly come."
I love you for Allah's sake. He said: May the One you love me for His sake love you
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that a man was with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and another man passed by him. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, I love this man." The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Have you told him?" He said: 'No!' He said: "Tell him." He went after him and said: "I love you for Allah's sake." He said: "May the One you love me for His sake love you!"
It is out of glorification of Allah, Almighty, to honor the grey-haired (old) Muslim, and the bearer of the Qur'an who neither exaggerates concerning it nor neglects it, and to honor the just ruler.
Abu Mūsa al-Ash‘ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is out of glorification of Allah, Almighty, to honor the grey-haired (old) Muslim, and the bearer of the Qur'an who neither exaggerates concerning it nor neglects it, and to honor the just ruler.”
I am a messenger from Allah to you to tell you that Allah loves you as you love him for His sake
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man set out to visit a brother (in faith) in another town, so Allah sent an angel to wait for him on his way. When he met the angel, the latter said: 'Where are you going?' He said: 'I am going to visit my brother in this town.' The angel said: 'Are you returning a favor?' He said: 'No, only that I love him for the sake of Allah, the Exalted.' Thereupon the angel said: 'I am a messenger from Allah to you to tell you that Allah loves you as you love him for His sake.'"
Are you granted victory and provided with sustenance except through your weak ones?
Mus‘ab ibn Sa‘d reported: Sa‘d (may Allah be pleased with him) saw that he had superiority over those beneath him. So, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Are you granted victory and provided with sustenance except through your weak ones?"
Allah, the Almighty, said: Those who love one another for the sake of My glory will have pulpits of light for which the prophets and martyrs will envy them
Mu‘ādh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah, the Almighty, said: 'Those who love one another for the sake of My glory will have pulpits of light for which the prophets and martyrs will envy them.'"
I have seen seventy of the people of the Suffah, none of them had a cloak over them
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I have seen seventy of the people of the Suffah, none of them had a cloak over them. They had either a lower garment or a sheet which they tied around their necks. Some reached halfway up the shins and some reached the ankles; and each one of them would hold it with with his hand to avoid exposing his private parts."
We were given of this world what we were given. I am afraid that the reward of our good deeds has been hastened to us in this world
Ibrahīm ibn ‘Abdur-Rahmān ibn ‘Awf reported that food was brought to his father, ‘Abdur-Rahmān ibn ‘Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) and he was fasting (that day), so he said: "Mus‘ab ibn ‘Umayr was martyred and he was better than me, but only one garment was available to shroud him. It was so small that if his head was covered, his feet remained uncovered, and if his feet were covered, his head remained uncovered. Then the bounties of this world were bestowed upon us generously. Or he said: We were given of this world what we were given. I am afraid that the reward of our good deeds has been hastened to us in this world.” Upon saying this he started crying and left the food untouched.
There were among the nations before you people who were inspired. If there is any of such among my followers, then it is ‘Umar
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There were among the nations before you people who were inspired. If there is any of such among my followers, then it is ‘Umar."
الآن يا عمر
عَنْ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ آخِذٌ بِيَدِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الخَطَّابِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، لَأَنْتَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا مِنْ نَفْسِي، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لاَ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ، حَتَّى أَكُونَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ نَفْسِكَ» فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ: فَإِنَّهُ الآنَ، وَاللَّهِ، لَأَنْتَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ نَفْسِي، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «الآنَ يَا عُمَرُ».
الصابر فيهم على دينه كالقابض على الجمر
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: (يَأْتِي عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ الصَّابِرُ فِيهِمْ عَلَى دِينِهِ كَالقَابِضِ عَلَى الجَمْرِ).
إن الشيطان قعد لابن آدم بأطرقه
عَنْ سَبْرَةَ بْنِ أَبِي فَاكِهٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: "إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ قَعَدَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ بِأَطْرُقِهِ، فَقَعَدَ لَهُ بِطَرِيقِ الْإِسْلَامِ، فَقَالَ: تُسْلِمُ وَتَذَرُ دِينَكَ وَدِينَ آبَائِكَ وَآبَاءِ أَبِيكَ، فَعَصَاهُ فَأَسْلَمَ، ثُمَّ قَعَدَ لَهُ بِطَرِيقِ الْهِجْرَةِ، فَقَالَ: تُهَاجِرُ وَتَدَعُ أَرْضَكَ وَسَمَاءَكَ، وَإِنَّمَا مَثَلُ الْمُهَاجِرِ كَمَثَلِ الْفَرَسِ فِي الطِّوَلِ، فَعَصَاهُ فَهَاجَرَ، ثُمَّ قَعَدَ لَهُ بِطَرِيقِ الْجِهَادِ، فَقَالَ: تُجَاهِدُ فَهُوَ جَهْدُ النَّفْسِ وَالْمَالِ، فَتُقَاتِلُ فَتُقْتَلُ، فَتُنْكَحُ الْمَرْأَةُ، وَيُقْسَمُ الْمَالُ، فَعَصَاهُ فَجَاهَدَ" فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «فَمَنْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ كَانَ حَقًّا عَلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْ يُدْخِلَهُ الْجَنَّةَ، وَمَنْ قُتِلَ كَانَ حَقًّا عَلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْ يُدْخِلَهُ الْجَنَّةَ، وَإِنْ غَرِقَ كَانَ حَقًّا عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ يُدْخِلَهُ الْجَنَّةَ، أَوْ وَقَصَتْهُ دَابَّتُهُ كَانَ حَقًّا عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ يُدْخِلَهُ الْجَنَّةَ».
هل تدرون أولَ مَن يدخل الجنة مِن خلق الله؟
عن عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاصي عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه قال: "هل تدرون أولَ مَن يدخل الجنة مِن خلق الله؟" قالوا: الله ورسوله أعلم. قال: "أول من يدخل الجنة من خلق الله الفقراء المهاجرون، الذين تُسَدُّ بهم الثغور، ويُتقى بهم المكاره، ويموت أحدُهم وحاجتُه في صدره، لا يستطيع لها قضاءً، فيقول الله عز وجل لمن يشاء من ملائكته: ائتوهم فحيُّوهم، فتقول الملائكة: نحن سكان سمائك، وخيرتك من خلقك، أفتأمرنا أن نأتي هؤلاء فنسلم عليهم؟ قال: إنهم كانوا عبادًا يعبدوني، لا يشركون بي شيئًا، وتسد بهم الثغور، ويتقى بهم المكاره، ويموت أحدهم وحاجته في صدره، لا يستطيع لها قضاءً، قال: فتأتيهم الملائكة عند ذلك، فيدخلون عليهم من كل باب: {سلام عليكم بما صبرتم فنعم عقبى الدار} [الرعد: 24].
ما رأيت أحدا أحسن صلاة من ابن جريج
عن عبد الرزاق قال: (أهل مكة يقولون: أخذ ابن جريج الصلاة من عطاء، وأخذها عطاء من ابن الزبير، وأخذها ابن الزبير من أبي بكر، وأخذها أبو بكر من النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، ما رأيت أحدا أحسن صلاة من ابن جريج).
إن الصالحين يُشدَّدُ عليهم
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَرَقَهُ وَجَعٌ، فَجَعَلَ يَشْتَكِي وَيَتَقَلَّبُ عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: لَوْ صَنَعَ هَذَا بَعْضُنَا لَوَجِدْتَ عَلَيْهِ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ الصَّالِحِينَ يُشَدَّدُ عَلَيْهِمْ، وَإِنَّهُ لَا يُصِيبُ مُؤْمِنًا نَكْبَةٌ مِنْ شَوْكَةٍ فَمَا فَوْقَ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا حُطَّتْ بِهِ عَنْهُ خَطِيئَةٌ وَرُفِعَ بِهَا دَرَجَةً».
ما أحبُّ أن لي مثل أحد ذهبًا أنفقه كله، إلا ثلاثة دنانير
عن الأَحْنَفَ بْنَ قَيْسٍ قَالَ: جَلَسْتُ إِلَى مَلَإٍ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ، فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ خَشِنُ الشَّعَرِ وَالثِّيَابِ وَالهَيْئَةِ، حَتَّى قَامَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: بَشِّرِ الكَانِزِينَ بِرَضْفٍ يُحْمَى عَلَيْهِ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ، ثُمَّ يُوضَعُ عَلَى حَلَمَةِ ثَدْيِ أَحَدِهِمْ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ مِنْ نُغْضِ كَتِفِهِ، وَيُوضَعُ عَلَى نُغْضِ كَتِفِهِ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ مِنْ حَلَمَةِ ثَدْيِهِ، يَتَزَلْزَلُ، ثُمَّ وَلَّى، فَجَلَسَ إِلَى سَارِيَةٍ، وَتَبِعْتُهُ وَجَلَسْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَأَنَا لاَ أَدْرِي مَنْ هُوَ؟ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: لاَ أُرَى القَوْمَ إِلَّا قَدْ كَرِهُوا الَّذِي قُلْتَ، قَالَ: إِنَّهُمْ لاَ يَعْقِلُونَ شَيْئًا، قَالَ لِي خَلِيلِي، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: مَنْ خَلِيلُكَ؟ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ أَتُبْصِرُ أُحُدًا؟» قَالَ: فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَى الشَّمْسِ مَا بَقِيَ مِنَ النَّهَارِ، وَأَنَا أُرَى أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُرْسِلُنِي فِي حَاجَةٍ لَهُ، قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: «مَا أُحِبُّ أَنَّ لِي مِثْلَ أُحُدٍ ذَهَبًا، أُنْفِقُهُ كُلَّهُ، إِلَّا ثَلاَثَةَ دَنَانِيرَ» وَإِنَّ هَؤُلاَءِ لاَ يَعْقِلُونَ، إِنَّمَا يَجْمَعُونَ الدُّنْيَا، لاَ وَاللَّهِ، لاَ أَسْأَلُهُمْ دُنْيَا، وَلاَ أَسْتَفْتِيهِمْ عَنْ دِينٍ، حَتَّى أَلْقَى اللَّهَ.
Allah, the Almighty, said: My love is certainly due to those who love one another for My sake, sit with one another for My sake, visit one another for My sake, cooperate and give one another for My sake
Abu Idrīs al-Khawlāni (may Allah have mercy upon him) reported: I once entered the Damascus mosque. I saw a young man who had shining teeth, and people were with him. When they differed over anything, they would refer it to him and would adopt his opinion. I asked who he was and I was told that he was Mu‘ādh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him). On the next day, I went early to the mosque, but found that he had arrived earlier than me and was praying. I waited until he completed his prayer, and then went to him from the front, greeted him and said: "By Allah, I love you for the sake of Allah." He asked: "By Allah?" I replied: "Yes, by Allah." He then asked me again: "By Allah?" I replied: "Yes, by Allah." Then he took hold of the waist edge of my cloak, drew me close to himself and said: "Rejoice, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) saying: 'Allah, the Almighty, said: ‘My love is certainly due to those who love one another for My sake, sit with one another for My sake, visit one another for My sake, cooperate and give one another for My sake.''"
من يشاد هذا الدين يغلبه
عَنْ بُرَيْدَةَ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ قَالَ: خَرَجْتُ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ لِحَاجَةٍ، فَإِذَا أَنَا بِالنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْشِي بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ، فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِي فَانْطَلَقْنَا نَمْشِي جَمِيعًا، فَإِذَا نَحْنُ بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا بِرَجُلٍ يُصَلِّي يُكْثِرُ الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "أَتُرَاهُ يُرَائِي؟" فَقُلْتُ: اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ. فَتَرَكَ يَدِي مِنْ يَدِهِ، ثُمَّ جَمَعَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَجَعَلَ يُصَوِّبُهُمَا وَيَرْفَعُهُمَا وَيَقُولُ: "عَلَيْكُمْ هَدْيًا قَاصِدًا. عَلَيْكُمْ هَدْيًا قَاصِدًا. عَلَيْكُمْ هَدْيًا قَاصِدًا؛ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يُشَادَّ هَذَا الدِّينَ يَغْلِبْهُ".
Islam began as something strange, and it will return to being strange as it began. So, glad tidings to the strangers
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Islam began as something strange, and it will return to being strange as it began. So, glad tidings to the strangers."
