عن عبد الرزاق قال: (أهل مكة يقولون: أخذ ابن جريج الصلاة من عطاء، وأخذها عطاء من ابن الزبير، وأخذها ابن الزبير من أبي بكر، وأخذها أبو بكر من النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، ما رأيت أحدا أحسن صلاة من ابن جريج).

قال عبد الرزاق بن همام الصنهعاني صاحب المصنف: أهل مكة يقولون: أخذ عبد الملك ابن جريج كيفية الصلاة والخشوع فيها من شيخه عطاء بن أبي رباح، وأخذها عطاء من عبد الله بن الزبير رضي الله عنهما، وابن الزبير أخذها من أبي بكر الصديق، وأبو بكر رضي الله عنه أخذ طريقة وكيفية الصلاة من النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال عبد الرزاق: ما رأيت أحدًا أحسن صلاة من صلاة ابن جريج. وهو شيخ عبد الرزاق، وفيه القدوة العملية، وتلقي السمت والعبادة مع العلم.
