كان رجلٌ نصرانيًّا فأسلم، وقرأ البقرة وآل عمران، فكان يكتب للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فعاد نصرانيًّا
عن أنس رضي الله عنه قال: كان رجلٌ نصرانيًّا فأسلم، وقرأ البقرة وآل عمران، فكان يكتب للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فعاد نصرانيًّا، فكان يقول: ما يَدري محمدٌ إلا ما كتبتُ له. فأماته الله فدفنوه، فأصبح وقد لفظته الأرض، فقالوا: هذا فعل محمد وأصحابه لما هرب منهم، نبشوا عن صاحبنا فألقوه، فحفروا له فأعمقوا، فأصبح وقد لفظته الأرض، فقالوا: هذا فعل محمد وأصحابه، نبشوا عن صاحبنا لما هرب منهم فألقوه، فحفروا له وأعمقوا له في الأرض ما استطاعوا، فأصبح وقد لفظته الأرض، فعلموا: أنه ليس من الناس، فألقوه.
إنكم ستفتحون مصر، وهي أرض يسمى فيها القيراط
عن أبي ذر قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «إنكم ستَفْتَحُون مِصرَ، وهي أرضٌ يُسمَّى فيها القِيرَاطُ، فإذا فتحتموها فأحسنوا إلى أهلها، فإن لهم ذمَّةً ورَحِمًا» أو قال «ذِمَّةً وصِهرًا، فإذا رأيت رجلين يختصمان فيها في موضع لَبِنَةٍ، فاخرج منها» قال: فرأيت عبد الرحمن بن شُرَحبيل بن حَسَنة، وأخاه ربيعة يختصمان في موضع لبنة فخرجت منها. وفي روايةٍ: «فاستوصوا بأهلها خيرًا».
At the end of time, there will come a people, young in age and foolish in mind. They will speak about the best words of creation, but they will pass through Islam as an arrow passes through its target
‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: If I narrate to you anything from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), it is dearer to me to fall from the sky than to lie about him. But if I speak to you concerning matters between me and you, then war is deception. I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) say: "At the end of time, there will come a people, young in age and foolish in mind. They will speak about the best words of creation, but they will pass through Islam as an arrow passes through its target. Their faith will not go beyond their throats. Wherever you encounter them, kill them, for killing them is a reward for the one who kills them on the Day of Judgment."
لَيبلُغَنَّ هذا الأمرُ ما بلغ الليلُ والنهارُ، ولا يترك الله بيتَ مَدَرٍ ولا وَبَرٍ إلا أدخله الله هذا الدين
عَنْ تَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَيَبْلُغَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرُ مَا بَلَغَ اللَّيْلُ وَالنَّهَارُ، وَلَا يَتْرُكُ اللهُ بَيْتَ مَدَرٍ وَلَا وَبَرٍ إِلَّا أَدْخَلَهُ اللهُ هَذَا الدِّينَ، بِعِزِّ عَزِيزٍ أَوْ بِذُلِّ ذَلِيلٍ، عِزًّا يُعِزُّ اللهُ بِهِ الْإِسْلَامَ، وَذُلًّا يُذِلُّ اللهُ بِهِ الْكُفْرَ»، وَكَانَ تَمِيمٌ الدَّارِيُّ، يَقُولُ: قَدْ عَرَفْتُ ذَلِكَ فِي أَهْلِ بَيْتِي، لَقَدْ أَصَابَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ مِنْهُمُ الْخَيْرُ وَالشَّرَفُ وَالْعِزُّ، وَلَقَدْ أَصَابَ مَنْ كَانَ مِنْهُمْ كَافِرًا الذُّلُّ وَالصَّغَارُ وَالْجِزْيَةُ.
ناس من أمتي عُرِضوا عليَّ غزاةً في سبيل الله يركبون ثبج هذا البحر ملوكًا على الأَسِرَّة
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْخُلُ عَلَى أُمِّ حَرَامٍ بِنْتِ مِلْحَانَ فَتُطْعِمُهُ -وَكَانَتْ أُمُّ حَرَامٍ تَحْتَ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ- فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَطْعَمَتْهُ وَجَعَلَتْ تَفْلِي رَأْسَهُ، فَنَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ اسْتَيْقَظَ وَهُوَ يَضْحَكُ، قَالَتْ: فَقُلْتُ: وَمَا يُضْحِكُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ: «نَاسٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي عُرِضُوا عَلَيَّ غُزَاةً فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، يَرْكَبُونَ ثَبَجَ هَذَا البَحْرِ مُلُوكًا عَلَى الأَسِرَّةِ، أَوْ: مِثْلَ المُلُوكِ عَلَى الأَسِرَّةِ» -شَكَّ إِسْحَاقُ- قَالَتْ: فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهمْ، فَدَعَا لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ وَضَعَ رَأْسَهُ، ثُمَّ اسْتَيْقَظَ وَهُوَ يَضْحَكُ، فَقُلْتُ: وَمَا يُضْحِكُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ: «نَاسٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي عُرِضُوا عَلَيَّ غُزَاةً فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ» كَمَا قَالَ فِي الأَوَّلِ، قَالَتْ: فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ، قَالَ: «أَنْتِ مِنَ الأَوَّلِينَ»، فَرَكِبَتِ البَحْرَ فِي زَمَانِ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، فَصُرِعَتْ عَنْ دَابَّتِهَا حِينَ خَرَجَتْ مِنَ البَحْرِ، فَهَلَكَتْ.
بُعثتُ بجوامع الكلم ونُصرتُ بالرعب
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «بُعِثْتُ بِجَوَامِعِ الكَلِمِ، وَنُصِرْتُ بِالرُّعْبِ، فَبَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ أُتِيتُ بِمَفَاتِيحِ خَزَائِنِ الأَرْضِ، فَوُضِعَتْ فِي يَدِي» قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: وَقَدْ ذَهَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنْتُمْ تَنْتَثِلُونَهَا.
لكل نبي دعوة مستجابة
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ دَعْوَةٌ يَدْعُو بِهَا، وَأُرِيدُ أَنْ أَخْتَبِئَ دَعْوَتِي شَفَاعَةً لِأُمَّتِي فِي الآخِرَةِ».
صنِّفْ تمرك كل شيء منه على حِدَتِه
عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: أُصِيبَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، وَتَرَكَ عِيَالًا وَدَيْنًا، فَطَلَبْتُ إِلَى أَصْحَابِ الدَّيْنِ أَنْ يَضَعُوا بَعْضًا مِنْ دَيْنِهِ فَأَبَوْا، فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَاسْتَشْفَعْتُ بِهِ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَأَبَوْا، فَقَالَ: «صَنِّفْ تَمْرَكَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ مِنْهُ عَلَى حِدَتِهِ، عِذْقَ ابْنِ زَيْدٍ عَلَى حِدَةٍ، وَاللِّينَ عَلَى حِدَةٍ، وَالعَجْوَةَ عَلَى حِدَةٍ، ثُمَّ أَحْضِرْهُمْ حَتَّى آتِيَكَ»، فَفَعَلْتُ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَعَدَ عَلَيْهِ، وَكَالَ لِكُلِّ رَجُلٍ حَتَّى اسْتَوْفَى، وَبَقِيَ التَّمْرُ كَمَا هُوَ، كَأَنَّهُ لَمْ يُمَسَّ. وَفِي لَفْظٍ: فَجَلَسَ عَلَى أَعْلاَهُ أَوْ فِي وَسَطِهِ. وَفِي رِوَايةٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ: أَنَّ أَبَاهُ تُوُفِّيَ وَتَرَكَ عَلَيْهِ ثَلاَثِينَ وَسْقًا لِرَجُلٍ مِنَ اليَهُودِ، فَاسْتَنْظَرَهُ جَابِرٌ، فَأَبَى أَنْ يُنْظِرَهُ، فَكَلَّمَ جَابِرٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِيَشْفَعَ لَهُ إِلَيْهِ، فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَلَّمَ اليَهُودِيَّ لِيَأْخُذَ ثَمَرَ نَخْلِهِ بِالَّذِي لَهُ، فَأَبَى، فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النَّخْلَ، فَمَشَى فِيهَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِجَابِرٍ: «جُدَّ لَهُ، فَأَوْفِ لَهُ الَّذِي لَهُ» فَجَدَّهُ بَعْدَمَا رَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَوْفَاهُ ثَلاَثِينَ وَسْقًا، وَفَضَلَتْ لَهُ سَبْعَةَ عَشَرَ وَسْقًا، فَجَاءَ جَابِرٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِيُخْبِرَهُ بِالَّذِي كَانَ، فَوَجَدَهُ يُصَلِّي العَصْرَ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ أَخْبَرَهُ بِالفَضْلِ، فَقَالَ: «أَخْبِرْ ذَلِكَ ابْنَ الخَطَّابِ»، فَذَهَبَ جَابِرٌ إِلَى عُمَرَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ: لَقَدْ عَلِمْتُ حِينَ مَشَى فِيهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيُبَارَكَنَّ فِيهَا.
إذا فُتِحت عليكم فارس والروم أيُّ قومٍ أنتم؟
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «إِذَا فُتِحَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ فَارِسُ وَالرُّومُ أَيُّ قَوْمٍ أَنْتُمْ؟» قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ: نَقُولُ كَمَا أَمَرَنَا اللهُ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَوْ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ، تَتَنَافَسُونَ، ثُمَّ تَتَحَاسَدُونَ، ثُمَّ تَتَدَابَرُونَ، ثُمَّ تَتَبَاغَضُونَ، أَوْ نَحْوَ ذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ تَنْطَلِقُونَ فِي مَسَاكِينِ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ، فَتَجْعَلُونَ بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَى رِقَابِ بَعْضٍ».
نزل نبي من الأنبياء تحت شجرة، فلدغته نملة
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «نَزَلَ نَبِيٌّ مِنَ الأَنْبِيَاءِ تَحْتَ شَجَرَةٍ، فَلَدَغَتْهُ نَمْلَةٌ، فَأَمَرَ بِجَهَازِهِ فَأُخْرِجَ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا، ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِبَيْتِهَا فَأُحْرِقَ بِالنَّارِ، فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ: فَهَلَّا نَمْلَةً وَاحِدَةً».
قدم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من غزوة تبوك أو خيبر وفي سهوة عائشة ستر
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ أَوْ خَيْبَرَ، وَفِي سَهْوَتِهَا سِتْرٌ، فَهَبَّتْ رِيحٌ فَكَشَفَتْ نَاحِيَةَ السِّتْرِ عَنْ بَنَاتٍ لِعَائِشَةَ لُعَبٍ، فَقَالَ: «مَا هَذَا يَا عَائِشَةُ؟» قَالَتْ: بَنَاتِي، وَرَأَى بَيْنَهُنَّ فَرَسًا لَهُ جَنَاحَانِ مِنْ رِقَاعٍ، فَقَالَ: «مَا هَذَا الَّذِي أَرَى وَسْطَهُنَّ؟» قَالَتْ: فَرَسٌ، قَالَ: «وَمَا هَذَا الَّذِي عَلَيْهِ؟» قَالَتْ: جَنَاحَانِ، قَالَ: «فَرَسٌ لَهُ جَنَاحَانِ؟» قَالَتْ: أَمَا سَمِعْتَ أَنَّ لِسُلَيْمَانَ خَيْلًا لَهَا أَجْنِحَةٌ؟ قَالَتْ: فَضَحِكَ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ نَوَاجِذَهُ.
لا تخيروا بين الأنبياء
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَالِسٌ جَاءَ يَهُودِيٌّ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَبَا القَاسِمِ، ضَرَبَ وَجْهِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِكَ، فَقَالَ: «مَنْ؟» قَالَ: رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ، قَالَ: «ادْعُوهُ»، فَقَالَ: «أَضَرَبْتَهُ؟»، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُهُ بِالسُّوقِ يَحْلِفُ: وَالَّذِي اصْطَفَى مُوسَى عَلَى البَشَرِ، قُلْتُ: أَيْ خَبِيثُ، عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَخَذَتْنِي غَضْبَةٌ ضَرَبْتُ وَجْهَهُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لاَ تُخَيِّرُوا بَيْنَ الأَنْبِيَاءِ، فَإِنَّ النَّاسَ يَصْعَقُونَ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ، فَأَكُونُ أَوَّلَ مَنْ تَنْشَقُّ عَنْهُ الأَرْضُ، فَإِذَا أَنَا بِمُوسَى آخِذٌ بِقَائِمَةٍ مِنْ قَوَائِمِ العَرْشِ، فَلاَ أَدْرِي أَكَانَ فِيمَنْ صَعِقَ، أَمْ حُوسِبَ بِصَعْقَةِ الأُولَى؟».
إني لأعرف حجرًا بمكة كان يسلم عليَّ قبل أن أبعث، إني لأعرفه الآن
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنِّي لَأَعْرِفُ حَجَرًا بِمَكَّةَ كَانَ يُسَلِّمُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُبْعَثَ إِنِّي لَأَعْرِفُهُ الْآنَ».
أُتيت بالبراق، وهو دابة أبيض طويل فوق الحمار، ودون البغل، يضع حافره عند منتهى طرفه
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «أُتِيتُ بِالْبُرَاقِ، وَهُوَ دَابَّةٌ أَبْيَضُ طَوِيلٌ فَوْقَ الْحِمَارِ، وَدُونَ الْبَغْلِ، يَضَعُ حَافِرَهُ عِنْدَ مُنْتَهَى طَرْفِهِ»، قَالَ: «فَرَكِبْتُهُ حَتَّى أَتَيْتُ بَيْتَ الْمَقْدِسِ»، قَالَ: «فَرَبَطْتُهُ بِالْحَلْقَةِ الَّتِي يَرْبِطُ بِهِ الْأَنْبِيَاءُ»، قَالَ «ثُمَّ دَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ، فَصَلَّيْتُ فِيهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ خَرَجْتُ فَجَاءَنِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ بِإِنَاءٍ مِنْ خَمْرٍ، وَإِنَاءٍ مِنْ لَبَنٍ، فَاخْتَرْتُ اللَّبَنَ، فَقَالَ جِبْرِيلُ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: اخْتَرْتَ الْفِطْرَةَ، ثُمَّ عُرِجَ بِنَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ، فَاسْتَفْتَحَ جِبْرِيلُ، فَقِيلَ: مَنَ أَنْتَ؟ قَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ، قِيلَ: وَمَنْ مَعَكَ؟ قَالَ: مُحَمَّدٌ، قِيلَ: وَقَدْ بُعِثَ إِلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: َ قَدْ بُعِثَ إِلَيْهِ، فَفُتِحَ لَنَا، فَإِذَا أَنَا بِآدَمَ، فَرَحَّبَ بِي، وَدَعَا لِي بِخَيْرٍ، ثُمَّ عُرِجَ بِنَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الثَّانِيَةِ، فَاسْتَفْتَحَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ، فَقِيلَ: مَنَ أَنْتَ؟ قَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ، قِيلَ: وَمَنْ مَعَكَ؟ قَالَ: مُحَمَّدٌ، قِيلَ: وَقَدْ بُعِثَ إِلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: قَدْ بُعِثَ إِلَيْهِ، فَفُتِحَ لَنَا، فَإِذَا أَنَا بِابْنَيْ الْخَالَةِ عِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ، وَيَحْيَى بْنِ زَكَرِيَّاءَ، صَلَوَاتُ اللهِ عَلَيْهِمَا، فَرَحَّبَا وَدَعَوَا لِي بِخَيْرٍ، ثُمَّ عَرَجَ بِي إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الثَّالِثَةِ، فَاسْتَفْتَحَ جِبْرِيلُ، فَقِيلَ: مَنَ أَنْتَ؟ قَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ، قِيلَ: وَمَنْ مَعَكَ؟ قَالَ: مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قِيلَ: وَقَدْ بُعِثَ إِلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: قَدْ بُعِثَ إِلَيْهِ، فَفُتِحَ لَنَا، فَإِذَا أَنَا بِيُوسُفَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، إِذَا هُوَ قَدِ اُعْطِيَ شَطْرَ الْحُسْنِ، فَرَحَّبَ وَدَعَا لِي بِخَيْرٍ، ثُمَّ عُرِجَ بِنَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الرَّابِعَةِ، فَاسْتَفْتَحَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ، قِيلَ: مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ، قِيلَ: وَمَنْ مَعَكَ؟ قَالَ: مُحَمَّدٌ، قَالَ: وَقَدْ بُعِثَ إِلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: قَدْ بُعِثَ إِلَيْهِ، فَفُتِحَ لَنَا فَإِذَا أَنَا بِإِدْرِيسَ، فَرَحَّبَ وَدَعَا لِي بِخَيْرٍ، قَالَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: {وَرَفَعْنَاهُ مَكَانًا عَلِيًّا} [مريم: 57]، ثُمَّ عُرِجَ بِنَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الْخَامِسَةِ، فَاسْتَفْتَحَ جِبْرِيلُ، قِيلَ: مَنْ هَذَا؟ فَقَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ، قِيلَ: وَمَنْ مَعَكَ؟ قَالَ: مُحَمَّدٌ، قِيلَ: وَقَدْ بُعِثَ إِلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: قَدْ بُعِثَ إِلَيْهِ، فَفُتِحَ لَنَا فَإِذَا أَنَا بِهَارُونَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَرَحَّبَ، وَدَعَا لِي بِخَيْرٍ، ثُمَّ عُرِجَ بِنَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ السَّادِسَةِ، فَاسْتَفْتَحَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ، قِيلَ: مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ، قِيلَ: وَمَنْ مَعَكَ؟ قَالَ: مُحَمَّدٌ، قِيلَ: وَقَدْ بُعِثَ إِلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: قَدْ بُعِثَ إِلَيْهِ، فَفُتِحَ لَنَا، فَإِذَا أَنَا بِمُوسَى صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَرَحَّبَ وَدَعَا لِي بِخَيْرٍ، ثُمَّ عُرِجَ بِنَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ السَّابِعَةِ، فَاسْتَفْتَحَ جِبْرِيلُ، فَقِيلَ: مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ، قِيلَ: وَمَنْ مَعَكَ؟ قَالَ: مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قِيلَ: وَقَدْ بُعِثَ إِلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: قَدْ بُعِثَ إِلَيْهِ، فَفُتِحَ لَنَا فَإِذَا أَنَا بِإِبْرَاهِيمَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُسْنِدًا ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى الْبَيْتِ الْمَعْمُورِ، وَإِذَا هُوَ يَدْخُلُهُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفَ مَلَكٍ لَا يَعُودُونَ إِلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ بِي إِلَى السِّدْرَةِ الْمُنْتَهَى، وَإِذَا وَرَقُهَا كَآذَانِ الْفِيَلَةِ، وَإِذَا ثَمَرُهَا كَالْقِلَالِ»، قَالَ: «فَلَمَّا غَشِيَهَا مِنْ أَمْرِ اللهِ مَا غَشِيَ تَغَيَّرَتْ، فَمَا أَحَدٌ مِنْ خَلْقِ اللهِ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَنْعَتَهَا مِنْ حُسْنِهَا، فَأَوْحَى اللهُ إِلَيَّ مَا أَوْحَى، فَفَرَضَ عَلَيَّ خَمْسِينَ صَلَاةً فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ وَلَيْلَةٍ، فَنَزَلْتُ إِلَى مُوسَى صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: مَا فَرَضَ رَبُّكَ عَلَى أُمَّتِكَ؟ قُلْتُ: خَمْسِينَ صَلَاةً، قَالَ: ارْجِعْ إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَاسْأَلْهُ التَّخْفِيفَ، فَإِنَّ أُمَّتَكَ لَا يُطِيقُونَ ذَلِكَ، فَإِنِّي قَدْ بَلَوْتُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَخَبَرْتُهُمْ»، قَالَ: «فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى رَبِّي، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَبِّ، خَفِّفْ عَلَى أُمَّتِي، فَحَطَّ عَنِّي خَمْسًا، فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى مُوسَى، فَقُلْتُ: حَطَّ عَنِّي خَمْسًا، قَالَ: إِنَّ أُمَّتَكَ لَا يُطِيقُونَ ذَلِكَ، فَارْجِعْ إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَاسْأَلْهُ التَّخْفِيفَ»، قَالَ: «فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أَرْجِعُ بَيْنَ رَبِّي تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى، وَبَيْنَ مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ حَتَّى قَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ، إِنَّهُنَّ خَمْسُ صَلَوَاتٍ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ وَلَيْلَةٍ، لِكُلِّ صَلَاةٍ عَشْرٌ، فَذَلِكَ خَمْسُونَ صَلَاةً، وَمَنْ هَمَّ بِحَسَنَةٍ فَلَمْ يَعْمَلْهَا كُتِبَتْ لَهُ حَسَنَةً، فَإِنْ عَمِلَهَا كُتِبَتْ لَهُ عَشْرًا، وَمَنْ هَمَّ بِسَيِّئَةٍ فَلَمْ يَعْمَلْهَا لَمْ تُكْتَبْ شَيْئًا، فَإِنْ عَمِلَهَا كُتِبَتْ سَيِّئَةً وَاحِدَةً»، قَالَ: «فَنَزَلْتُ حَتَّى انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى مُوسَى صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ، فَقَالَ: ارْجِعْ إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَاسْأَلْهُ التَّخْفِيفَ»، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «فَقُلْتُ: قَدْ رَجَعْتُ إِلَى رَبِّي حَتَّى اسْتَحْيَيْتُ مِنْهُ».
لقد رأيتني في الحِجْر وقريش تسألني عن مَسْراي
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي فِي الْحِجْرِ وَقُرَيْشٌ تَسْأَلُنِي عَنْ مَسْرَايَ، فَسَأَلَتْنِي عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ مِنْ بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ لَمْ أُثْبِتْهَا، فَكُرِبْتُ كُرْبَةً مَا كُرِبْتُ مِثْلَهُ قَطُّ»، قَالَ: «فَرَفَعَهُ اللهُ لِي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ، مَا يَسْأَلُونِي عَنْ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا أَنْبَأْتُهُمْ بِهِ، وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي فِي جَمَاعَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ، فَإِذَا مُوسَى قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي، فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ ضَرْبٌ جَعْدٌ كَأَنَّهُ مِنْ رِجَالِ شَنُوءَةَ، وَإِذَا عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي، أَقْرَبُ النَّاسِ بِهِ شَبَهًا عُرْوَةُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ، وَإِذَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي، أَشْبَهُ النَّاسِ بِهِ صَاحِبُكُمْ -يَعْنِي نَفْسَهُ-، فَحَانَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَأَمَمْتُهُمْ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغْتُ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ قَائِلٌ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ، هَذَا مَالِكٌ صَاحِبُ النَّارِ، فَسَلِّمْ عَلَيْهِ، فَالْتَفَتُّ إِلَيْهِ، فَبَدَأَنِي بِالسَّلَامِ».
ألله الذي لا إله إلا هو إن كنت لَأَعتمد بكبدي على الأرض من الجوع
عَنْ أَبي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: أَللَّهِ الَّذِي لاَ إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ إِنْ كُنْتُ لَأَعْتَمِدُ بِكَبِدِي عَلَى الأَرْضِ مِنَ الجُوعِ، وَإِنْ كُنْتُ لَأَشُدُّ الحَجَرَ عَلَى بَطْنِي مِنَ الجُوعِ، وَلَقَدْ قَعَدْتُ يَوْمًا عَلَى طَرِيقِهِمُ الَّذِي يَخْرُجُونَ مِنْهُ، فَمَرَّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ آيَةٍ مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ، مَا سَأَلْتُهُ إِلَّا لِيُشْبِعَنِي، فَمَرَّ وَلَمْ يَفْعَلْ، ثُمَّ مَرَّ بِي عُمَرُ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ آيَةٍ مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ، مَا سَأَلْتُهُ إِلَّا لِيُشْبِعَنِي، فَمَرَّ فَلَمْ يَفْعَلْ، ثُمَّ مَرَّ بِي أَبُو القَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَتَبَسَّمَ حِينَ رَآنِي، وَعَرَفَ مَا فِي نَفْسِي وَمَا فِي وَجْهِي، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «يَا أَبَا هِرٍّ» قُلْتُ: لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: «الْحَقْ» وَمَضَى فَتَبِعْتُهُ، فَدَخَلَ، فَاسْتَأْذَنَ، فَأُذِنَ لِي، فَدَخَلَ، فَوَجَدَ لَبَنًا فِي قَدَحٍ، فَقَالَ: «مِنْ أَيْنَ هَذَا اللَّبَنُ؟» قَالُوا: أَهْدَاهُ لَكَ فُلاَنٌ أَوْ فُلاَنَةُ، قَالَ: «أَبَا هِرٍّ» قُلْتُ: لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: «الْحَقْ إِلَى أَهْلِ الصُّفَّةِ، فَادْعُهُمْ لِي» قَالَ: وَأَهْلُ الصُّفَّةِ أَضْيَافُ الإِسْلَامِ، لَا يَأْوُونَ إِلَى أَهْلٍ وَلَا مَالٍ وَلَا عَلَى أَحَدٍ، إِذَا أَتَتْهُ صَدَقَةٌ بَعَثَ بِهَا إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَمْ يَتَنَاوَلْ مِنْهَا شَيْئًا، وَإِذَا أَتَتْهُ هَدِيَّةٌ أَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِمْ، وَأَصَابَ مِنْهَا وَأَشْرَكَهُمْ فِيهَا، فَسَاءَنِي ذَلِكَ، فَقُلْتُ: وَمَا هَذَا اللَّبَنُ فِي أَهْلِ الصُّفَّةِ، كُنْتُ أَحَقُّ أَنَا أَنْ أُصِيبَ مِنْ هَذَا اللَّبَنِ شَرْبَةً أَتَقَوَّى بِهَا، فَإِذَا جَاءَ أَمَرَنِي، فَكُنْتُ أَنَا أُعْطِيهِمْ، وَمَا عَسَى أَنْ يَبْلُغَنِي مِنْ هَذَا اللَّبَنِ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ مِنْ طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ وَطَاعَةِ رَسُولِهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بُدٌّ، فَأَتَيْتُهُمْ فَدَعَوْتُهُمْ فَأَقْبَلُوا، فَاسْتَأْذَنُوا فَأَذِنَ لَهُمْ، وَأَخَذُوا مَجَالِسَهُمْ مِنَ البَيْتِ، قَالَ: «يَا أَبَا هِرٍّ» قُلْتُ: لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: «خُذْ فَأَعْطِهِمْ» قَالَ: فَأَخَذْتُ القَدَحَ، فَجَعَلْتُ أُعْطِيهِ الرَّجُلَ فَيَشْرَبُ حَتَّى يَرْوَى، ثُمَّ يَرُدُّ عَلَيَّ القَدَحَ، فَأُعْطِيهِ الرَّجُلَ فَيَشْرَبُ حَتَّى يَرْوَى، ثُمَّ يَرُدُّ عَلَيَّ القَدَحَ فَيَشْرَبُ حَتَّى يَرْوَى، ثُمَّ يَرُدُّ عَلَيَّ القَدَحَ، حَتَّى انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ رَوِيَ القَوْمُ كُلُّهُمْ، فَأَخَذَ القَدَحَ فَوَضَعَهُ عَلَى يَدِهِ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَيَّ فَتَبَسَّمَ، فَقَالَ: «أَبَا هِرٍّ» قُلْتُ: لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: «بَقِيتُ أَنَا وَأَنْتَ» قُلْتُ: صَدَقْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: «اقْعُدْ فَاشْرَبْ» فَقَعَدْتُ فَشَرِبْتُ، فَقَالَ: «اشْرَبْ» فَشَرِبْتُ، فَمَا زَالَ يَقُولُ: «اشْرَبْ» حَتَّى قُلْتُ: لَا وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالحَقِّ، مَا أَجِدُ لَهُ مَسْلَكًا، قَالَ: «فَأَرِنِي» فَأَعْطَيْتُهُ القَدَحَ، فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَسَمَّى وَشَرِبَ الفَضْلَةَ.
كنا نعد الآيات بركة، وأنتم تعدونها تخويفًا
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بنٍ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: كُنَّا نَعُدُّ الآيَاتِ بَرَكَةً، وَأَنْتُمْ تَعُدُّونَهَا تَخْوِيفًا، كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ، فَقَلَّ المَاءُ، فَقَالَ: «اطْلُبُوا فَضْلَةً مِنْ مَاءٍ» فَجَاءُوا بِإِنَاءٍ فِيهِ مَاءٌ قَلِيلٌ، فَأَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ فِي الإِنَاءِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «حَيَّ عَلَى الطَّهُورِ المُبَارَكِ، وَالبَرَكَةُ مِنَ اللَّهِ» فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ المَاءَ يَنْبُعُ مِنْ بَيْنِ أَصَابِعِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَلَقَدْ كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ تَسْبِيحَ الطَّعَامِ وَهُوَ يُؤْكَلُ.
كنا مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ثلاثين ومائة
عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلاَثِينَ وَمِائَةً، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «هَلْ مَعَ أَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ طَعَامٌ؟»، فَإِذَا مَعَ رَجُلٍ صَاعٌ مِنْ طَعَامٍ أَوْ نَحْوُهُ، فَعُجِنَ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مُشْرِكٌ مُشْعَانٌّ طَوِيلٌ، بِغَنَمٍ يَسُوقُهَا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «بَيْعًا أَمْ عَطِيَّةً»، أَوْ قَالَ: «أَمْ هِبَةً؟»، قَالَ: لاَ، بَلْ بَيْعٌ، فَاشْتَرَى مِنْهُ شَاةً، فَصُنِعَتْ، وَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِسَوَادِ البَطْنِ أَنْ يُشْوَى، وَايْمُ اللَّهِ، مَا فِي الثَّلاَثِينَ وَالمِائَةِ إِلَّا قَدْ حَزَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَهُ حُزَّةً مِنْ سَوَادِ بَطْنِهَا، إِنْ كَانَ شَاهِدًا أَعْطَاهَا إِيَّاهُ، وَإِنْ كَانَ غَائِبًا خَبَأَ لَهُ، فَجَعَلَ مِنْهَا قَصْعَتَيْنِ، فَأَكَلُوا أَجْمَعُونَ وَشَبِعْنَا، فَفَضَلَتِ القَصْعَتَانِ، فَحَمَلْنَاهُ عَلَى البَعِيرِ، أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ.
ويح عمار، تقتله الفئة الباغية، يدعوهم إلى الجنة، ويدعونه إلى النار
عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ قَالَ لِي ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ وَلِابْنِهِ عَلِيٍّ: انْطَلِقَا إِلَى أَبِي سَعِيدٍ فَاسْمَعَا مِنْ حَدِيثِهِ، فَانْطَلَقْنَا، فَإِذَا هُوَ فِي حَائِطٍ يُصْلِحُهُ، فَأَخَذَ رِدَاءَهُ فَاحْتَبَى، ثُمَّ أَنْشَأَ يُحَدِّثُنَا، حَتَّى أَتَى ذِكْرُ بِنَاءِ المَسْجِدِ، فَقَالَ: كُنَّا نَحْمِلُ لَبِنَةً لَبِنَةً وَعَمَّارٌ لَبِنَتَيْنِ لَبِنَتَيْنِ، فَرَآهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَيَنْفُضُ التُّرَابَ عَنْهُ، وَيَقُولُ: «وَيْحَ عَمَّارٍ، تَقْتُلُهُ الفِئَةُ البَاغِيَةُ، يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى الجَنَّةِ، وَيَدْعُونَهُ إِلَى النَّارِ» قَالَ: يَقُولُ عَمَّارٌ: أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الفِتَنِ".
The Messenger of Allah dispatched a secret troop of ten men under the leadership of ‘Āsim ibn Thābit al-Ansāri
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) dispatched a secret troop of ten men under the leadership of ‘Āsim ibn Thābit al-Ansāri (may Allah be pleased with him). They proceeded until they reached Al-Had'ah, a place between ‘Usfān and Makkah, when the news reached a branch of the tribe of Hudhayl called Banu Lihyān. About one hundred of their archers hurried to track them. When ‘Āsim and his companions sensed them, they took refuge in a safe place. Their trackers circled them and said: "Come down and surrender. We give you our pledge and covenant that we will not kill any of you." ‘Āsim ibn Thābit (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O people, as for me, I will not go down to be under the protection of disbelievers. O Allah, let your Prophet know what has happened to us." The disbelievers then shot arrows at them until they killed ‘Āsim. Three of the men went down trusting their pledge and covenant; Khubayb, Zayd ibn Ad-Dathinnah, and a third man. When the disbelievers captured them and tied them up with the strings of their bows, the third companion said: "This is the start of a betrayal. By Allah, I will not go with you. I have a clear example in these (killed companions)." So they dragged him and tried to force him to accompany them, but he refused, so they killed him. They took Khubayb and Zayd ibn Ad-Dathinnah with them and sold them as slaves in Makkah. This incident took place after the battle of Badr. Khubayb was bought by the children of Al-Hārith ibn ‘Āmir ibn Nawfal ibn ‘Abd Manāf. It was Khubayb who had killed Al-Hārith in the battle of Badr. Khubayb remained as their prisoner for a several days, until they decided to kill him. Khubayb borrowed a razor from one of Al-Hārith’s daughters to shave his pubic hair. Without her being aware, her little son crawled towards Khubayb. When she saw her son on Khubayb's knee and he had the razor in his hand, she was so alarmed that Khubayb noticed the agitation on her face. He said: "Are you afraid that I will kill him? No, I will never do that." She later commented: "By Allah, I never saw a prisoner better than Khubayb. By Allah, I once saw him eating a bunch of grapes from his hand while he was chained up, but there was no such fruit at that time in Makkah. It must have been a blessing that Allah had bestowed upon Khubayb." When they took him out of the Sacred Precincts, so they could kill him outside its boundaries, Khubayb asked them to let him pray two Rak‘ahs. They allowed him to do so, so he offered the two Rak‘ahs. Then he said: "Had I not reckoned that you would think that I was anxious, I would have prayed more. O Allah, remove them altogether; slay them one by one and spare none of them." He then recited these poetic verses: "I do not care how I will be killed as long as I will die in the cause of Allah, as a Muslim. This is for Allah's sake, and if He so wills, He may bless torn and amputated limbs." It was therefore Khubayb who established the Sunnah (practice) for any Muslim who is about to be killed to pray two Rak‘ahs. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) related to his Companions what had happened to the ten Companions on the day that it happened. Later, when some disbelievers from the Quraysh were informed that ‘Āsim had been killed; they sent people to fetch a recognizable part of him to confirm his death. They did so, because ‘Āsim had previously killed one of their chiefs. So Allah sent a swarm of bees, resembling a shady cloud, to hover over the body of ‘Āsim to shield him from their messengers, so they could not cut off any part of him.
The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) called for water, and he was brought a wide shallow vessel with some water in it. He put his fingers in it
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: It was time for prayer. Those who were close to their homes went to their families (to perform ablution). Some people remained. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was brought a stone pot. It was too small for him to open his palm therein. All of the people made ablution.” They said: “How many of you were there?” He said: "Eighty and more.” Another narration reads: "The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) called for water, and he was brought a wide shallow vessel with some water in it. He put his fingers in it. Anas said: "I saw water flowing from between his fingers. I then counted those who performed ablution and found them between seventy and eighty."
While Ayyūb (peace be upon him) was taking a bath, naked, golden locusts began to fall upon him
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "While Ayyūb (peace be upon him) was taking a bath, naked, golden locusts began to fall on him. Ayyūb started collecting them in his clothes. His Lord, Glorified and Exalted, called him: 'O Ayyūb, have I not made you rich enough not to be in need of this?' Ayyūb replied: 'Yes, by Your might, but I cannot dispense with Your blessing.'"
None spoke in the cradle, except three
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: “None spoke in the cradle, except three: ‘Īsa, the son of Maryam and the companion of Jurayj. Jurayj was a worshiper. He had a hermitage and while he was there, his mother came in and called him while he was praying. He asked: ‘My Lord, my mother or my prayer?’ And he continued his prayer, so she left. The next day she came again and called him while he was in prayer. He asked: ‘My Lord, my mother or my prayer?’ and he continued his prayer. The following day she came again and called him while he was in prayer. He asked: ‘My Lord, my mother or my prayer?’ and he continued his prayer. She said: ‘O Allah, do not let him die until he sees the faces of prostitutes.’ The Children of Israel talked about Jurayj and his worship. There was a prostitute who they took to be an icon of beauty. She offered to seduce him. She tried to do so, but he did not pay her any attention. So she approached a herdsman who used to take refuge in Jurayj’s hermitage. She offered herself to him and he had sexual intercourse with her. She became pregnant, and when she gave birth she claimed that it was Jurayj’s son. The people went to him, invoked curses upon him, destroyed his hermitage, and attacked him. He said: ‘Why are you doing this?’ They replied: ‘You fornicated with this woman and she bore you a child.’ He asked: ‘Where is the child?’ So, they brought the child to him. He said: ‘Leave me until I pray.’ When he had finished praying he came to the boy and poked him in the stomach, and said: ‘O boy, who is your father?’ The boy responded: ‘So-and-so, the herdsman.’ So the people turned to Jurayj, kissing him and touching him, seeking his blessing. They offered to rebuild his hermitage with gold, but he refused and asked them to rebuild it with mud, just as it had been before, and so they did. There was also a baby, who was suckling from his mother when a rider dressed in fine garments passed by on an agile animal. His mother said: ‘O Allah, make my child like this one.’ The baby stopped suckling and looked at the man, and said: ‘O Allah, do not make me like him.’ He then continued suckling.” Abu Hurayrah said: “It is as if I can see the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) right now demonstrating the baby suckling with his forefinger in his mouth.” He (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) continued: “And some people passed by holding a slave girl, who they were beating and accusing of fornication and theft. She was saying: ‘Sufficient is Allah for me, and the best of Guardians is He.’ The mother said: ‘O Allah, do not make my child like her.’ Again the baby stopped suckling, looked at her and said: ‘O Allah, make me like her.’ At this point they spoke to each other. The mother said: ‘A good looking man passed by and I asked Allah to make my son like him, and you asked Allah not to make you like him. Then, the people passed by with this slave girl who was being beaten and accused of fornication and theft, and I asked Allah not to make my son like her and you asked Allah to make you like her!’ The child said: ‘The man was a tyrant, so I asked Allah not to make me like him. They were accusing the girl of fornication but she had not committed it, and they were accusing her of stealing, but she had not stolen. So I asked Allah to make me like her.’”
The narrative of Mūsa (Moses) (peace be upon him) and Al-Khidr
Sa‘īd ibn Jubayr reported: I said to Ibn ‘Abbās: "Nawf al-Bakāli claims that Mūsa is not the Mūsa of the Children of Israel; that he is a different Mūsa." He said: "The enemy of Allah has lied. Ubay ibn Ka‘b reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Mūsa stood to deliver a speech before the Children of Israel and the people asked him: ‘Who is the most learned person among the people?’ Mūsa replied: ‘I am.’ Allah rebuked him because he did not attribute the knowledge to Him. So Allah revealed to him: ‘At the junction of the two seas, there is a servant of Ours who is more learned than you.’ Mūsa asked: ‘O my Lord, how can I meet him?’ Allah said: ‘Take a fish and put it in a basket and then set out, and where you lose the fish, you will find him.’ So he set out along with his boy-servant Yūsha‘ ibn Nūn, and they carried a fish inside a large basket until they reached a rock (on which) they both laid their heads down and slept. The fish snuck out of the basket and slipped off through the sea. Mūsa and his boy-servant were astonished. They continued on through the rest of the night and day, and the next morning Mūsa said to his boy-servant: ‘Bring us our meal; truly, we have suffered much fatigue on this journey.’ Mūsa did not feel tired until he had passed the place that Allah had told him to look for. His boy-servant then said to him: ‘Do you remember when we rested on the rock? Well, I forgot all about the fish; and it was none other than the devil who made me forget.’ Mūsa said: ‘That was what we have been looking for,’ so they returned, retracing their footsteps. When they reached the rock, they found a man shrouded with a robe. Mūsa greeted him with the greeting of peace. Al-Khidr said: ‘Is there (such a greeting of) peace in your land?’ Mūsa said: ‘I am Mūsa.’ He said: ‘Are you the Mūsa of the Children of Israel?’ Mūsa said: ‘Yes,’ and added: ‘May I follow you so you can teach me something of the guidance that you have been taught?’ Al-Khidr said: ‘You will not be able to have patience with me. O Mūsa. I have some of Allah's knowledge, which He has bestowed upon me that you do not know, and you too, have some of Allah's knowledge, which He has bestowed upon you that I do not know.’ Mūsa said: ‘If Allah wills, you will find me patient, and I will not disobey you.’ So they set out walking along the shore, until a boat passed by and they asked the crew to let them on board. The crew recognized Al-Khidr and allowed them on board free of charge. A bird came and perched on the edge of the boat and pecked in the sea once or twice. Al-Khidr said: ‘My knowledge and your knowledge compared to Allah's knowledge are like the pecking of that bird in the sea.’ Al-Khidr then broke one of the boat's panels and pulled it out. Mūsa said to him: ‘These people gave us a free ride, yet you have broken their boat so its people will drown!’ Al-Khidr said: ‘Did I not say that you would not be able to have patience with me?’ Mūsa said: ‘Call me not to account for what I forgot and be not hard upon me in my affairs.’ So Mūsa’s first questioning was due to forgetfulness. They both continued on and came upon a boy playing with some other boys. Al-Khidr took hold of the boy's head and pulled it right off with his hands, killing him. Mūsa said to him: ‘Have you killed an innocent soul without a right?’ He said: ‘Did I not say to you that you would not be able to have patience with me?’ Ibn ‘Uyaynah said: ‘And this was more assertive.’ They continued on until they came to a town and they asked the people for some food, but they refused to entertain them. They found a wall in the town that was on the point of falling down. Al-Khidr set it straight with his own hands. Mūsa said: ‘If you had wished, surely, you could have asked for wages for that!’ He said: "This is the parting between you and me.’" The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah have mercy on Mūsa! If only he had had more patience so Allah could have told us more about them both!"
While the mother of Isma‘īl was breastfeeding her son Isma‘īl, Ibrahīm brought them to a place near the House; under a tree on the spot of Zamzam and the highest place in the Mosque. During those days there was nobody in Makkah nor was there any water
Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: “While the mother of Isma‘īl was breastfeeding her son Isma‘īl, Ibrahīm (peace be upon him) brought them to a place near the House (the Ka‘bah); under a tree on the spot of Zamzam and the highest place in the Mosque. During those days there was nobody in Makkah nor was there any water. He settled them there and placed a leather bag containing some dates and a small waterskin containing some water near them, and then set off homeward. Isma‘īl's mother followed him saying: ‘O Ibrahīm, where are you going and leaving us in this valley where there is no one whose company we may enjoy nor is there anything here?’ She repeated it many times, but he did not look back at her. So she asked him: ‘Has Allah ordered you to do this?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ She said: ’Then He will not neglect us.’ She returned and Ibrahīm proceeded onwards, and, on reaching the Thaniyyah where they could not see him, he faced the Ka‘bah and raising both hands, invoked Allah with the following supplications: {Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in an uncultivated valley near Your sacred House, our Lord, that they may establish prayer. So make hearts among the people incline toward them and provide for them from the fruits that they might be grateful} [Sūrat Ibrahīm: 37]. Isma‘īl's mother continued breastfeeding him (Isma‘īl) and drinking the water (she had). When the water in the waterskin had all been used up, she became thirsty and her child also became thirsty. She started looking at him tossing in agony. She left him, because she could not endure looking at him, and found that Mount Safa was the nearest mountain to her in that area. She stood on it and started looking down the valley keenly to see if she could see anybody, but she could not. She descended from Safa and when she reached the valley, she lifted up her robe and ran along the valley like a person in distress, until she had crossed the valley and reached Mount Marwah, on which she stood and started looking, expecting to see somebody, but she did not see anybody. She repeated that (running between Safa and Marwah) seven times. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘This is the source of the tradition of walking between them (Safa and Marwah).’ When she reached Marwah (for the last time) she heard a voice and she told herself to be quiet and listened attentively. She heard the voice again and said: 'O (whoever you may be), you have made me hear your voice; have you got something to help me?’ And behold, she saw an angel in the Zamzam area, digging the earth with his heel (or his wing) until water flowed from that place. She started to make something like a basin around it, using her hand in this way, and started using her hands to fill her waterskin with water. The water was flowing out after she had scooped some of it. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) commented: ‘May Allah bestow Mercy on Isma‘īl's mother! Had she let Zamzam (to flow without trying to control it or had she not scooped that water to fill her waterskin), Zamzam would just have been a stream flowing on the surface of the earth.’ The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) further added: ‘Then she drank and breastfed her child.’ The angel said to her: 'Do not be afraid of being neglected; this is the House of Allah, which will be built by this boy and his father, and Allah never neglects His people.' The House (the Ka‘bah) at that time was on a high place resembling a hillock, and when torrents (of rain) came, they flowed to its right and left. She lived that way until some people from the tribe of Jurhum - or a family from Jurhum - passed by her and her child, as they (the Jurhum) were coming through the Way of Kadā'. They settled in the lower part of Makkah where they saw a bird hovering. They said: 'This bird must be flying around water; although we know that there is no water in this valley.' They sent out one or two messengers, who discovered the source of water and returned to inform them of it. So, they all came (towards the water). They arrived while Isma‘īl's mother was sitting near the water and asked her: 'Would you allow us to stay with you?' She replied: 'Yes, but you will have no right over the water.' They agreed to that. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) further said: ’Isma‘īl's mother was pleased with the whole situation, as she loved having the company of people.’ So, they settled there and later they sent for their families, who came and settled with them, so some of the families became permanent residents there. The child (Isma‘īl) grew up and learnt Arabic from them and (his virtues) caused them to love and admire him as he grew up. When he reached the age of puberty, they made him marry a woman from among them. After Isma‘īl's mother had died and after Isma‘īl's marriage, Ibrahīm arrived to see the family that he had left there previously, but he did not find Isma‘īl there. When he asked Isma‘īl's wife about him, she replied: 'He has gone in search of our livelihood.' Then he asked her about their way of living and their condition, and she replied: 'We are living in misery, we are living in hardship and destitution,' complaining to him. He said: 'When your husband returns, convey my greetings to him and tell him to change the threshold of the door (of his house).' When Isma‘īl came back, he felt something unusual, so he asked his wife, 'Has anyone visited you?' She replied, 'Yes, an old man of such-and-such description came and asked me about you, and I told him (how you were). He also asked how we were living, and I told him that we were living in hardship and poverty.' So Isma‘īl asked: 'Did he advise you of anything?' She replied: 'Yes, he told me to convey his greetings to you and to tell you to change the threshold of your door.' Isma‘īl said: 'That was my father and he has told me to divorce you. Go back to your family.' So Isma‘īl divorced her and married another woman from among them (the Jurhum). Ibrahīm stayed away from them for a period that lasted as long as Allah wished and then called on them again, but again did not find Isma‘īl. So he went to Isma‘īl's wife and asked her about him. She said: 'He has gone in search of our livelihood.' Ibrahīm asked her: 'How are you getting on?' asking her about their sustenance and living. She replied: 'We are prosperous and well-off (we have everything in abundance).' Then she thanked Allah. Ibrahīm asked: 'What kind of food do you eat?' She said: 'Meat.' He asked: 'What do you drink?' She said: 'Water.’ He supplicated, ‘O Allah, bless their meat and water.’ The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) added: ‘At that time they did not have grain, and if they had had grain, he would have also invoked Allah to bless it.’ The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) added: ‘If somebody has only these two things for sustenance, his health and disposition will be badly affected, unless he lives in Makkah.’ In another narration: [Ibrahīm] came and asked: ’Where is Isma‘īl?’ His wife said: ’'He went to hunt.’ His wife said: ’Will you not come in to eat and drink?’ He said: ‘What is your food and drink?’ She said: ‘Our food is meat and our drink is water.’ He said: ‘O Allah, Bless their food and drink.’ The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Such is the blessing of the prayer of Ibrahīm.’ Then Ibrahīm said to Isma‘īl's wife: ‘When your husband comes back, give my regards to him and tell him that he should keep the threshold of his door firm.' When Isma‘īl came back, he asked his wife: 'Did anyone call on you?' She replied: 'Yes, a good-looking old man came to see me,' and she praised him and added: 'He asked about you, and I told him, and he asked about our livelihood and I told him that we are in a good condition.' Isma‘īl asked her: 'Did he give you any advice?' She said: 'Yes, he told me to convey his regards to you and said that you should keep firm the threshold of your door.' On that Isma‘īl said: 'That was my father, and you are the threshold (of the door). He has told me to keep you with me.' Then Ibrahīm stayed away from them for a period that lasted for as long as Allah wished and called on them after that. He saw Isma‘īl under a tree near Zamzam, sharpening his arrows. When he saw Ibrahīm, he rose up to welcome him (and they greeted each other as a father does to his son or a son does to his father). Ibrahīm said: 'O Isma‘īl, Allah has given me an order.' Ishmael said: 'Do what your Lord has ordered you to do.' Ibrahīm asked: 'Will you help me?' Isma‘īl said: 'I will help you.' Ibrahīm said: ‘Allah has ordered me to build a house here,' pointing to a hillock higher than the land surrounding it. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) added: ‘They then raised the foundations of the House. Isma‘īl was bringing the stones and Ibrahīm was building them, and when the walls were high, Isma‘īl brought this stone and placed it for Ibrahīm who stood over it and carried on building. While Isma‘īl was handing him the stones, both of them were saying: {O our Lord! Accept (this service) from us, Verily, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.} In another narration: ''Ibrahīm took Isma‘īl and the mother of Isma‘īl and went away. They had a waterskin with them containing some water. Isma‘īl's mother would drink water from the water-skin, so her milk would flow for her child. When Ibrahīm reached Makkah, he told her to stay under a tree and afterwards returned home. Isma‘īl's mother followed him, and when they reached Kadā', she called to him from behind: 'O Ibrahīm, to whom are you leaving us?' He replied: 'To Allah.' She said: 'I am pleased to be with Allah.' She returned to her place and started drinking water from the waterskin, and her milk flowed for her child. When the water had all been used up, she said to herself: 'I should go and look to see if I can see somebody.' She ascended Mount Safa and looked in vain, hoping to see somebody. When she came down to the valley, she ran until she reached Mount Marwah. She ran to and fro (between the two mountains) many times. Then she said to herself: 'I should go and see how the child is,' she went and found him in a state; on the point of dying. She could not endure to watch him dying and said (to herself): 'If I go and look, I might find somebody.' She ascended Mount Safa and looked for a long while, but could not see anybody. In this way, she completed seven rounds (running) between Safa and Marwah. Again she said (to herself): 'I should go back and see how the child is.' Suddenly she heard a voice and she said to that strange voice: 'Help us if you can offer any help.' Lo and behold, it was Jibrīl (whose voice she had heard). Jibrīl hit the earth with his heel like this, and water gushed out. Isma‘īl's mother was astonished and started scooping..."
When Adam died, the angels washed his body with water an odd number of times, dug him a grave, and said: This is the tradition for Adam's children
Ubayy ibn Ka‘b (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Adam died, the angels washed his body with water an odd number of times, dug him a grave, and said: 'This is the tradition for Adam's children.'"
A man from the Banu Zurayq, whose name was Labīd ibn al-A‘sam, performed magic on the Messenger and he began to imagine that he had done something that he had not done
‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: A man from the Banu Zurayq, whose name was Labīd ibn al-A‘sam, performed magic on the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) and he began to imagine that he had done something that he had not. One day, while he was with me, he supplicated to Allah, the Almighty, and he supplicated for a prolonged period and then said: ‘O ‘Ā'ishah, do you know that Allah has told me regarding the matter I asked Him about? Two men came to me, one of them sat near my head and the other sat near my feet. One of them asked his companion: “What is wrong with this man?” The other replied: “'He is under a magic spell.” The first one asked: “Who performed magic on him?” The other replied: “Labīd ibn al-A‘sam.” The first one asked: “What did he do it with?” The other replied: “With a comb and the hair stuck in it, and the skin of a male date palm pollen.” The first one asked: “Where is it?” The other replied: “In the well of Dharwān.”’ The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) went with some of his Companions to the well. He returned to me and said: ‘O ‘Ā'ishah, by Allah, the water in that well was (red) like a Henna leaf infusion, and the date palms were like the heads of devils.’ I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, should you take (those things) out (of the pollen skin)?’ He said: ‘No. Allah has healed me, and I was afraid that I would spread evil among the people.’ He then ordered the well be filled with earth, and it was filled with earth.”
Abu Jumu‘ah al-Ansāri once came to us and said: "We were with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) and we were ten, including Mu‘ādh ibn Jabal. We said: 'O Messenger of Allah, is there anyone who will acquire greater rewards than ours?'"
Ibn Jubayr reported: Abu Jumu‘ah al-Ansāri once came to us and said: "We were with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) and we were ten, including Mu‘ādh ibn Jabal. We said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, is there anyone who will acquire greater rewards than ours? We believed in you and followed you.’ He said: ‘What prevents you from doing so, while the Messenger of Allah is among you, bringing you the revelation from heaven? There are people who will come after you and who will be given a book between two covers (the Qur’an), and they will believe in it and implement its commands. They have a greater reward than yours.'"
What made you come, Abu Hidhyam?
Hanzhalah ibn Hidhyam reported that his grandfather Haneefah said to Hidhyam: "Gather my children for me, because I want to leave a testament." When they were gathered, he said: "The first thing I bequeath is that this orphan of mine who is in my custody is entitled to one hundred camels, which were called Al-Mutayyabah (the good favored ones) in pre-Islamic times.'' Hidhyam said: "O my father, I heard your children say: 'We will approve of this during our father's life, but when he dies, we will recant it.'" He said: "So let the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) judge between me and you." Hidhyam said: "We accept that." So Hidhyam, Haneefah, and Hanzhalah along with a young boy who escorted Hidhyam set forth. When they came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) they greeted him. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him): "What made you come, Abu Hidhyam?" He replied, having struck Hidhyam on the thigh: "I fear that old age or death will overtake me, so I wanted to make a bequest. I therefore said: 'The first thing I bequeath is that this orphan of mine who is in my custody is entitled to one hundred camels, which were called Al-Mutayyibah in pre-Islamic times.'" The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) became so angry that we saw anger in his face. He was sitting, but he knelt down and said: "No, no, no! A charity should consist of five camels, or else ten, or else fifteen, or else twenty, or else twenty-five, or else thirty, or else thirty-five, or of a maximum of forty." They fared him well, and the orphan had a stick with him with which he was beating a camel. So the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) noted: "That is a too big a stick for an orphan." Hanzhalah said: "My father drew me closer to the Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him and said: 'I have sons with beards, and others younger than them, and this one is the youngest. So pray for him.'" Therefore, he wiped his head and said: "May Allah bless you," or: "May he be blessed." Dhayyāl said: "I have seen Hanzhalah, and a man with a swollen face or a beast with a swollen udder would be brought to him. He would spit on his hands and say "Bismillāh" (in the name of Allah); put his hand on his head, where the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) had placed his hand; and then wipe [the affected part] with it." Dhayyāl said: "The tumor would disappear."
Mūsa (peace be upon him) was a bashful man who used to cover his skin completely out of extreme bashfulness. So some of the children of Israel abused him
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Mūsa was a bashful man who used to cover his skin completely out of extreme bashfulness. So some of the children of Israel abused him, saying: 'His keenness on covering his body in this way is only because of some defect in his skin, either leprosy or scrotal hernia, or he has some other defect.' Allah wished to clear Mūsa of what they said about him. So, one day, while Mūsa was alone, he took off his clothes and put them on a stone and started bathing. When he finished, he went to get his clothes but the stone ran away with them. Mūsa picked up his stick and ran after the stone saying: 'My garment, O stone! My garment, O stone!' He ran behind it until he reached a group of the Children of Israel who saw him naked then, and found him the best of what Allah had created, and thus Allah cleared him of what they had accused him of. The stone stopped there and Mūsa took his garment, put it on and struck the stone repeatedly with his stick. By Allah, the effect of the strikes was visible on the stone; three, four, or five marks. This was what Allah refers to in His Saying: {O you who have believed, be not like those who abused Moses; then Allah cleared him of what they said. And he, in the sight of Allah , was distinguished.} [Sūrat al-Ahzāb: 69]"
‘Īsa the Son of Maryam saw a person stealing. Thereupon, ‘Īsa said to him: Did you steal? He said: No, by the One besides Whom there is no god. So ‘Īsa said: I believed in Allah and disbelieved my eyes
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "‘Īsa the Son of Maryam saw a person stealing. Thereupon, ‘Īsa asked him: 'Did you steal?' He said: 'No, by the One besides Whom there is no god.' So ‘Īsa said: 'I believed in Allah and disbelieved my eyes (what my eyes saw).'
It is not proper for a servant of Allah to say: I am better than Yūnus ibn Matta
Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be please with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not proper for a servant of Allah to say: “I am better than Yūnus ibn Matta." And he linked him to his father.
The sun was held (from setting) for any human except Yūsha‘ (Joshua), on the nights he marched to Jerusalem
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: ''The sun was never held (from setting) for any human except Yūsha‘, on the nights he marched to Jerusalem.''
أرسل إلي أن اقرأ القرآن على حرف
عن أبي بن كعب قال: كنت في المسجد، فدخل رجل يصلي، فقرأ قراءة أنكرتها عليه، ثم دخل آخر فقرأ قراءة سوى قراءة صاحبه، فلما قضينا الصلاة دخلنا جميعا على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقلت: إن هذا قرأ قراءة أنكرتها عليه، ودخل آخر فقرأ سوى قراءة صاحبه، فأمرهما رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقرآ، فحسن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم شأنهما، فسقط في نفسي من التكذيب، ولا إذ كنت في الجاهلية، فلما رأى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ما قد غشيني، ضرب في صدري، ففضت عرقا وكأنما أنظر إلى الله عز وجل فرقا، فقال لي: "يا أبي أرسل إلي أن اقرأ القرآن على حرف، فرددت إليه أن هون على أمتي، فرد إلي الثانية اقرأه على حرفين، فرددت إليه أن هون على أمتي، فرد إلي الثالثة اقرأه على سبعة أحرف، فلك بكل ردة رددتكها مسألة تسألنيها، فقلت: اللهم اغفر لأمتي، اللهم اغفر لأمتي، وأخرت الثالثة ليوم يرغب إلي الخلق كلهم، حتى إبراهيم صلى الله عليه وسلم".
أصلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في بيت المقدس؟
عن زِرِّ بن حُبَيش قال: قلتُ لحذيفة بن اليمان: أَصَلَّى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في بيت المقدس؟ قال: لا. قلت: بلى. قال: أنت تقول ذاك يا أصلع، بم تقول ذلك؟ قلت: بالقرآن، بيني وبينك القرآن. فقال حذيفة: مَن احتج بالقرآن فقد أفلح. -قال سفيان: يقول فقد احتج، وربما قال: قد فلج- فقال: {سبحان الذي أسرى بعبده ليلًا من المسجد الحرام إلى المسجد الأقصى}. قال: أَفَتَرَاه صلى فيه؟ قلت: لا. قال: لو صلى فيه لكُتب عليكم فيه الصلاة كما كُتبت الصلاة في المسجد الحرام. قال حذيفة: قد أتي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بدابَّة طويلة الظَّهر ممدودة هكذا، خطوه مَدُّ بصره، فما زايلا ظهر البُرَاق حتى رأيا الجنة والنار ووَعْدَ الآخرة أجمعَ، ثم رجعا عَودَهما على بِدئهما. قال: ويتحدثون أنه ربطه، لم؟ لِيَفِرَّ منه، وإنما سخَّره له عالم الغيب والشهادة.
آذنت بهم شجرة
عن معن بن عبد الرحمن قال: سمعت أبي قال: سألتُ مسروقًا: من آذَنَ النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بالجن ليلة استمعوا القرآن؟ فقال: حدثني أبوك يعني عبد الله أنه آذنت بهم شجرة.
بُعِثْتُ من خير قرون بني آدم، قرنًا فقرنًا، حتى كنت من القرن الذي كنت فيه
عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «بُعِثْتُ من خيرِ قرونِ بني آدم، قرنًا فقرنًا، حتى كنتُ من القرن الذي كنتُ فيه».
يا رسول الله، أحدٌ خيرٌ منا، أسلمنا معك، وجاهدنا معك؟
عن ابن مُحَيريز قال: قلت لأبي جمعة -رجل من الصحابة-: حدِّثنا حديثًا سمعته من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم. قال: نعم، أحدثكم حديثًا جيِّدًا، تَغدَّينا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ومعنا أبو عبيدة بن الجراح، فقال: يا رسول الله، أحد خير منا، أسلمنا معك، وجاهدنا معك؟ قال: "نعم، قوم يكونون من بعدكم يؤمنون بي ولم يروني".
هَلَكَةُ أمتي على يدي غِلْمةٍ من قريش
عن سعيد بن عمرو بن سعيد بن العاص الأموي قال: كنتُ جالسًا مع أبي هريرة في مسجد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بالمدينة، ومعنا مروان، قال أبو هريرة: سمعت الصادق المصدوق يقول: «هَلَكَةُ أمتي على يدي غِلْمةٍ من قريش» فقال مروان: لعنةُ اللهِ عليهم غلمةً. فقال أبو هريرة: لو شئت أن أقول: بني فلان، وبني فلان، لفعلت. فكنت أخرج مع جدي إلى بني مروان حين ملكوا بالشأم، فإذا رآهم غِلْمانًا أحداثًا قال لنا: عسى هؤلاء أن يكونوا منهم؟ قلنا: أنت أعلم.
هل لكم من أنماط؟
عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «هَلْ لَكُمْ مِنْ أَنْمَاطٍ؟» قُلْتُ: وَأَنَّى يَكُونُ لَنَا الأَنْمَاطُ؟ قَالَ: «أَمَا إِنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ لَكُمُ الأَنْمَاطُ» فَأَنَا أَقُولُ لَهَا -يَعْنِي امْرَأَتَهُ-: أَخِّرِي عَنِّي أَنْمَاطَكِ، فَتَقُولُ: أَلَمْ يَقُلِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ لَكُمُ الأَنْمَاطُ»؟ فَأَدَعُهَا.
أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أمر بقتل الوزغ
عَنْ أُمِّ شَرِيكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ الوَزَغِ، وَقَالَ: كَانَ يَنْفُخُ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ.
يَلقى إبراهيمُ أباه آزرَ يوم القيامة
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «يَلْقَى إِبْرَاهِيمُ أَبَاهُ آزَرَ يَوْمَ القِيَامَةِ، وَعَلَى وَجْهِ آزَرَ قَتَرَةٌ وَغَبَرَةٌ، فَيَقُولُ لَهُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ: أَلَمْ أَقُلْ لَكَ لاَ تَعْصِنِي، فَيَقُولُ أَبُوهُ: فَاليَوْمَ لاَ أَعْصِيكَ، فَيَقُولُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ: يَا رَبِّ، إِنَّكَ وَعَدْتَنِي أَلَّا تُخْزِيَنِي يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ، فَأَيُّ خِزْيٍ أَخْزَى مِنْ أَبِي الأَبْعَدِ؟ فَيَقُولُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: إِنِّي حَرَّمْتُ الجَنَّةَ عَلَى الكَافِرِينَ، ثُمَّ يُقَالُ: يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ، مَا تَحْتَ رِجْلَيْكَ؟ فَيَنْظُرُ، فَإِذَا هُوَ بِذِيخٍ مُلْتَطِخٍ، فَيُؤْخَذُ بِقَوَائِمِهِ فَيُلْقَى فِي النَّارِ».
جاء رجل إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: يا خير البَرِيَّة
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا خَيْرَ الْبَرِيَّةِ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «ذَاكَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ».
أُرسل ملك الموت إلى موسى عليهما السلام فلما جاءه صكه
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: أُرْسِلَ مَلَكُ المَوْتِ إِلَى مُوسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلاَمُ، فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُ صَكَّهُ، فَرَجَعَ إِلَى رَبِّهِ، فَقَالَ: أَرْسَلْتَنِي إِلَى عَبْدٍ لاَ يُرِيدُ المَوْتَ، فَرَدَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ عَيْنَهُ وَقَالَ: ارْجِعْ، فَقُلْ لَهُ: يَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَى مَتْنِ ثَوْرٍ فَلَهُ بِكُلِّ مَا غَطَّتْ بِهِ يَدُهُ بِكُلِّ شَعْرَةٍ سَنَةٌ، قَالَ: أَيْ رَبِّ، ثُمَّ مَاذَا؟ قَالَ: ثُمَّ المَوْتُ، قَالَ: فَالْآنَ، فَسَأَلَ اللَّهَ أَنْ يُدْنِيَهُ مِنَ الأَرْضِ المُقَدَّسَةِ رَمْيَةً بِحَجَرٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «فَلَوْ كُنْتُ ثَمَّ لَأَرَيْتُكُمْ قَبْرَهُ، إِلَى جَانِبِ الطَّرِيقِ، عِنْدَ الكَثِيبِ الأَحْمَرِ»
اشتد غضب الله على قوم فعلوا بنبيه
عَن أَبي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «اشْتَدَّ غَضَبُ اللَّهِ عَلَى قَوْمٍ فَعَلُوا بِنَبِيِّهِ -يُشِيرُ إِلَى رَبَاعِيَتِهِ-، اشْتَدَّ غَضَبُ اللَّهِ عَلَى رَجُلٍ يَقْتُلُهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ».
إن في ثقيف كذابًا ومُبيرًا
عَنْ أَبِي نَوْفَلٍ: رَأَيْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ عَلَى عَقَبَةِ الْمَدِينَةِ، قَالَ: فَجَعَلَتْ قُرَيْشٌ تَمُرُّ عَلَيْهِ وَالنَّاسُ، حَتَّى مَرَّ عَلَيْهِ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، فَوَقَفَ عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَبَا خُبَيْبٍ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَبَا خُبَيْبٍ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَبَا خُبَيْبٍ، أَمَا وَاللهِ لَقَدْ كُنْتُ أَنْهَاكَ عَنْ هَذَا، أَمَا وَاللهِ لَقَدْ كُنْتُ أَنْهَاكَ عَنْ هَذَا، أَمَا وَاللهِ لَقَدْ كُنْتُ أَنْهَاكَ عَنْ هَذَا، أَمَا وَاللهِ إِنْ كُنْتَ -مَا عَلِمْتُ- صَوَّامًا قَوَّامًا وَصُولًا لِلرَّحِمِ، أَمَا وَاللهِ لَأُمَّةٌ أَنْتَ أَشَرُّهَا لَأُمَّةُ خَيْرٍ، ثُمَّ نَفَذَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، فَبَلَغَ الْحَجَّاجَ مَوْقِفُ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَقَوْلُهُ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ، فَأُنْزِلَ عَنْ جِذْعِهِ، فَأُلْقِيَ فِي قُبُورِ الْيَهُودِ، ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَ إِلَى أُمِّهِ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، فَأَبَتْ أَنْ تَأْتِيَهُ، فَأَعَادَ عَلَيْهَا الرَّسُولَ: لَتَأْتِيَنِّي أَوْ لَأَبْعَثَنَّ إِلَيْكِ مَنْ يَسْحَبُكِ بِقُرُونِكِ، قَالَ: فَأَبَتْ وَقَالَتْ: وَاللهِ لَا آتِيكَ حَتَّى تَبْعَثَ إِلَيَّ مَنْ يَسْحَبُنِي بِقُرُونِي، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: أَرُونِي سِبْتَيَّ فَأَخَذَ نَعْلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَ يَتَوَذَّفُ، حَتَّى دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا، فَقَالَ: كَيْفَ رَأَيْتِنِي صَنَعْتُ بِعَدُوِّ اللهِ؟ قَالَتْ: رَأَيْتُكَ أَفْسَدْتَ عَلَيْهِ دُنْيَاهُ، وَأَفْسَدَ عَلَيْكَ آخِرَتَكَ، بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ تَقُولُ لَهُ: يَا ابْنَ ذَاتِ النِّطَاقَيْنِ، أَنَا وَاللهِ ذَاتُ النِّطَاقَيْنِ، أَمَّا أَحَدُهُمَا فَكُنْتُ أَرْفَعُ بِهِ طَعَامَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَطَعَامَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ مِنَ الدَّوَابِّ، وَأَمَّا الْآخَرُ فَنِطَاقُ الْمَرْأَةِ الَّتِي لَا تَسْتَغْنِي عَنْهُ، أَمَا إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَّ فِي ثَقِيفٍ كَذَّابًا وَمُبِيرًا، فَأَمَّا الْكَذَّابُ فَرَأَيْنَاهُ، وَأَمَّا الْمُبِيرُ فَلَا إِخَالُكَ إِلَّا إِيَّاهُ، قَالَ: فَقَامَ عَنْهَا وَلَمْ يُرَاجِعْهَا.
No one has ever eaten food better than that which his hands have earned. Indeed, Prophet Dawūd (peace be upon him) used to eat from the earnings of his own hands
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Dawūd (peace be upon him) used to eat only from the earnings of his own hands." Al-Miqdām ibn Ma‘d Yakrab (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No one has ever eaten food better than that which his hands have earned. Indeed, Prophet Dawūd (peace be upon him) used to eat from the earnings of his own hands."
ما يصنع هؤلاء؟
عن طلحة قال: مررتُ مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بقوم على رؤوس النخل، فقال: «ما يصنع هؤلاء؟» فقالوا: يلقحونه، يجعلون الذكر في الأنثى فيَلْقَح. فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «ما أظن يغني ذلك شيئًا» قال فأخبروا بذلك فتركوه، فأخبر رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بذلك فقال: «إن كان ينفعهم ذلك فليصنعوه، فإني إنما ظننت ظنًّا، فلا تؤاخذوني بالظن، ولكن إذا حدثتكم عن الله شيئًا، فخذوا به، فإني لن أكذب على الله عز وجل».
The best of you are my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them
‘Imrān ibn Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best of you are my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them." ‘Imrān said: I do not know whether the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned two or three generations. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Verily, after you, there will come people who will betray and will not be trustworthy, testify without being called to give testimony, make vows but not fulfill them, and obesity will be widespread among them."
