He is not one of us who seeks bad omens or has it done for him, or who practices soothsaying or has it done for him, or who practices sorcery or has it done for him
‘Imrān ibn Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not one of us who seeks bad omens or has it done for him, or who practices soothsaying or has it done for him, or who practices sorcery or has it done for him; and whoever ties a knot, and whoever goes to a soothsayer and believes in what he says has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him)."
Whoever acquires a branch of the knowledge of astrology acquires a branch of magic, of which he acquires more as long as he continues to do so
Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever acquires a branch of the knowledge of astrology acquires a branch of magic, of which he acquires more as long as he continues to do so."
What stands between a man and polytheism and disbelief is the abandonment of the prayers
Jābir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) say: "What stands between a man and polytheism and disbelief is the abandonment of the prayers."
The covenant between us and them is prayer; so, whoever abandons it has disbelieved
Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The covenant between us and them is prayer; so, whoever abandons it has disbelieved."
No one can undo the magic except a magician
It was narrated that Al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy upon him) said: "No one can undo the magic except a magician."
Do you know what your Lord has said?" They replied: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "He has said: 'Some of My servants have entered the morning as believers in Me and some as disbelievers
Zayd ibn Khālid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the Fajr prayer at Al-Hudaybiyah after rainfall during the night. At the conclusion of the prayer, he turned toward the people and said: "Do you know what your Lord has said?" They replied: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "He has said: 'Some of My servants have entered the morning as believers in Me and some as disbelievers. He who says, 'We have had rainfall by the grace and mercy of Allah' believes in Me and disbelieves in the stars, and he who says, 'We have had rainfall by the rising of such and such star' disbelieves in Me and believes in the stars.'"
ألا اشهدوا أن دمها هدر
عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ أَعْمَى كَانَتْ لَهُ أُمُّ وَلَدٍ تَشْتُمُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَتَقَعُ فِيهِ، فَيَنْهَاهَا فَلَا تَنْتَهِي، وَيَزْجُرُهَا فَلَا تَنْزَجِرُ، قَالَ: فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ، جَعَلَتْ تَقَعُ فِي النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَتَشْتُمُهُ، فَأَخَذَ الْمِغْوَلَ فَوَضَعَهُ فِي بَطْنِهَا، وَاتَّكَأَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَتَلَهَا، فَوَقَعَ بَيْنَ رِجْلَيْهَا طِفْلٌ، فَلَطَّخَتْ مَا هُنَاكَ بِالدَّمِ، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ ذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَجَمَعَ النَّاسَ، فَقَالَ: «أَنْشُدُ اللَّهَ رَجُلًا فَعَلَ مَا فَعَلَ لِي عَلَيْهِ حَقٌّ إِلَّا قَامَ»، فَقَامَ الْأَعْمَى يَتَخَطَّى النَّاسَ وَهُوَ يَتَزَلْزَلُ، حَتَّى قَعَدَ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَنَا صَاحِبُهَا، كَانَتْ تَشْتُمُكَ، وَتَقَعُ فِيكَ، فَأَنْهَاهَا فَلَا تَنْتَهِي، وَأَزْجُرُهَا فَلَا تَنْزَجِرُ، وَلِي مِنْهَا ابْنَانِ مِثْلُ اللُّؤْلُؤَتَيْنِ، وَكَانَتْ بِي رَفِيقَةً، فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْبَارِحَةَ جَعَلَتْ تَشْتُمُكَ، وَتَقَعُ فِيكَ، فَأَخَذْتُ الْمِغْوَلَ فَوَضَعْتُهُ فِي بَطْنِهَا، وَاتَّكَأْتُ عَلَيْهَا حَتَّى قَتَلْتُهَا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَلَا اشْهَدُوا أَنَّ دَمَهَا هَدَرٌ».
‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote: Kill every sorcerer and sorceress
Bajālah ibn ‘Abadah reported that ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote: "Kill every sorcerer and sorceress." Bajālah said: "So we killed three sorceresses." Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "A maid-servant of Hafsah (the Prophet’s wife) bewitched her and admitted practicing sorcery. So Hafsah ordered ‘Abdur-Rahmān ibn Zayd to kill her." Also, Abu ‘Uthmān An-Nahdi said: "Al-Walīd had a magician who used to perform shows before him. He once slaughtered a man, cutting off his head, and we were astonished. Then he returned the head to its proper place, so Jundub al-Azdi came and killed him."
إذا قضى الله الأمر في السماء ضربت الملائكة بأجنحتها خُضْعَانًا لقوله
عن أبي هريرة يبلغ به النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: "إذا قضى الله الأمر في السماء ضربت الملائكة بأجنحتها خُضْعَانًا لقوله، كالسلسلة على صَفْوانٍ، فإذا فُزِّع عن قلوبهم قالوا: ماذا قال ربكم؟ قالوا للذي قال: الحق، وهو العلي الكبير. فيسمعها مسترقو السمع، ومسترقو السمع هكذا واحد فوق آخر" -ووصف سفيان بيده، وفرج بين أصابع يده اليمنى، نصبها بعضها فوق بعض- "فربما أدرك الشهابُ المستمعَ قبل أن يرمي بها إلى صاحبه فيحرقه، وربما لم يدركه حتى يرمي بها إلى الذي يليه إلى الذي هو أسفل منه، حتى يلقوها إلى الأرض" -وربما قال سفيان: حتى تنتهي إلى الأرض- "فتلقى على فم الساحر، فيكذب معها مائة كَذْبة، فيصدق فيقولون: ألم يخبرنا يوم كذا وكذا، يكون كذا وكذا، فوجدناه حقًّا؟ للكلمة التي سمعت من السماء".
