If Allah wills to show mercy to a people, He takes the soul of their prophet before them, thus making him a forerunner and an intercessor for them
Abu Mūsa al-Ash‘ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If Allah wills to show mercy to a people, He takes the soul of their prophet before them, thus making him a forerunner and an intercessor for them. Whereas, if He wills to destroy a people, He punishes them whilst their prophet is alive, witnessing their destruction, thus, consoling him by their destruction as they disbelieved in him and disobeyed his orders."
I am more entitled to that (action) than you. Pardon My slave
Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A slave of Allah whom Allah granted wealth will be brought before Him, and He will ask him: 'What did you do in the worldly life?' (Hudhayfah said: {And they will be able to hide nothing from Allah.} [Sūrat An-Nisā': 42]) He will say: 'O Lord! You gave me wealth and I used to enter into transactions with people. It was my nature to be lenient (to my debtors). I used to show leniency towards the solvent and give respite to the insolvent.' Allah, the Exalted, said: 'I am more entitled to that (action) than you. Pardon My slave.'" ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Āmir and Abu Mas‘ūd al-Ansāri (may Allah be pleased with both of them) said: "This is how we heard it from the lips of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him)."
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) visited me and drank from the mouth of a hanging waterskin while he was standing. So, I got up and cut off its mouth
Umm Thābit, Kabshah bint Thābit, sister of Hassān ibn Thābit, (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) visited me and drank from the mouth of a hanging waterskin while he was standing. So, I got up and cut off its mouth.
The places that are dearest to Allah are the mosques, and the places that are most hateful to Allah are the marketplaces
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The places that are dearest to Allah are the mosques, and the places that are most hateful to Allah are the marketplaces."
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) appointed a man in charge of an army unit who led them in prayer; he always concluded his recitation with Sūrat al-Ikhlās
‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) appointed a man in charge of an army unit who led them in prayer; he always concluded his recitation with Sūrat al-Ikhlās. Upon their return to Madīnah, they mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), who said: "Ask him why he did so?" He was asked, and he responded: "This Sūrah contains the Attributes of Allah, the Gracious, and I love to recite it." The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) then told them: "Tell him that Allah loves him."
A mount was brought to ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) to ride on, and when he put his foot in the stirrup, he said: In the name of Allah
‘Ali ibn Rabī‘ah reported: I was there when a mount was brought to ‘Ali ibn Abi Tālib (may Allah be pleased with him) to ride on. When he put his foot in the stirrup, he said: "In the name of Allah". When he settled himself on its back, he recited: "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have otherwise subdued it. And indeed we, to our Lord, will surely return." He then recited: "Praise be to Allah" three times, and then: "Allah is the Greatest" three times. Then he said: "Exalted are You above any imperfection. I have wronged myself, so forgive me, for none but You can forgive sins" and then he laughed. It was asked: "O Commander of the Believers, what made you laugh?" He replied: "I saw the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) doing as I have done then he laughed." I asked him: ”O Messenger of Allah, what made you laugh?” He said: “Your Lord, the Exalted, is pleased when His slave seeks His forgiveness; he (the slave) knows that none can forgive sins except Allah."
Allah, Glorified and Exalted, laughs at two men, one of them kills the other, yet both enter Paradise. This one fights in the cause of Allah, so he gets killed. Then Allah accepts the repentance of the killer, so he becomes a Muslim and dies as a martyr
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated directly from the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "Allah, Glorified and Exalted, laughs at two men, one of them kills the other, yet both enter Paradise. This one fights in the cause of Allah, so he gets killed. Then Allah forgives the killer, and becomes a Muslim and dies as a martyr."
Indeed you possess two traits that Allah loves: prudence and deliberation
Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said to Al-Ashajj, Ashajj ‘Abdul-Qays: "Indeed you possess two traits that Allah loves: prudence and deliberation."
O people, do not trouble yourselves too much. He Whom you are calling is not deaf or absent. Verily, He is with you, He is All-Hearing and Ever Near
Abu Mūsa al-Ash‘ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: We were on a journey with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and whenever we ascended from a valley we would say "there is no god but Allah" and "Allah is the Greatest" and we would raise our voices. So the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people, do not trouble yourselves too much. He Whom you are calling is not deaf or absent. Verily, He is with you, He is All-Hearing and Ever Near."
When Allah wants to punish a people, the punishment befalls whoever is among them, then they will be resurrected according to their deeds
‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: “When Allah wants to punish a people, the punishment befalls whoever is among them, then they will be resurrected according to their deeds.”
O Allah, I ask You to help me do good deeds and abstain from evil ones, to grant me the love of the poor and needy, and to forgive me and have mercy on me. And if it is Your Will that you put some people to trial (regarding their faith), then make me die without being put to that trial. I ask You to grant me Your Love, the love of those who love You, and the love of deeds that bring me closer to Your Love
Mu‘ādh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: One morning, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) stayed home and did not come out to offer the Fajr prayer until the sun almost rose. Then he came out in a hurry and led us in the prayer, which he performed quicker than at his usual pace. After the prayer was over, he asked us to remain in our places, and then he said to us: "I will tell you what caused me to be late. I got up at night to pray. I made ablution and then prayed as much as Allah willed me to pray. I dozed off while praying and fell into a deep sleep, whereupon I saw My Lord, Glorified and Exalted, in the best appearance. He said to me: 'O Muhammad.' I said: 'Here I am, my Lord.' He said: 'Do you know what the higher assembly (of angels) argue about?' I said: 'My Lord, I do not know.' He asked me three times, and then I saw Him put His Palm between my shoulders until I felt the coolness of His fingertips between my breasts. Consequently, everything became clear to me and I had knowledge. He asked me: 'O Muhammad.' I said: 'Here I am, my Lord.' He said: 'Do you know what the higher assembly (of angels) argue about?' I said: 'About acts of expiation (for sins).' He said: 'What are they?' I said: 'Walking to join congregational prayers, sitting in the mosques after prayers, and performing ablution properly when it is difficult (to do so).' He asked me: 'Then about what else?' I said: 'Feeding people, lenient speech, and offering prayer at night while the people are asleep.' He said: 'Ask Me anything.' I said: 'O Allah, I ask You to help me do good deeds and abstain from evil ones, to grant me the love of the poor and needy, and to forgive me and have mercy on me. And if it is Your Will that You put some people to trial (regarding their faith), then make me die without being put to that trial. I ask You to grant me Your Love, the love of those who love You, and the love of deeds that bring me closer to Your Love." The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) then said: "These words are true, so study them and then learn them."
When Allah fashioned Adam in Paradise, He left him as long as He desired to leave him. Satan started to go round Adam looking at him. Once he saw that Adam had a hollow body, he realized that he was a weak creature
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah fashioned Adam in Paradise, He left him (in the form He created him) as long as He desired to leave him (i.e. for a certain period of time). Satan started to go round Adam looking at him. Once he saw that Adam had a hollow body, he realized that he was a weak creature."
Indeed, when Allah loves a slave, He calls Jibrīl (Gabriel) and says: I love so-and-so, so love him. So, Gabriel loves him
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, when Allah loves a slave, He calls Jibrīl (Gabriel) and says: I love so-and-so, so love him. So, Gabriel loves him. Then, he (Gabriel) calls out in heaven, saying: Indeed, Allah loves so-and-so, so love him. And the inhabitants of heaven love him. Then, acceptance is established for him on earth. And if Allah hates a slave, He calls Gabriel and says: I hate so-and-so, so hate him. So, Gabriel hates him. Then, Gabriel calls out to the inhabitants of heaven, saying: Indeed, Allah hates so-and-so, so hate him. So, they hate him, and hatred is established for him on earth."
If the slave draws closer to Me by a hand-span, I shall draw closer to him by a cubit; and if he draws closer to Me by a cubit, I shall draw closer to him by the span of two outstretched arms. If he comes to Me walking, I shall come to him running

Anyone loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him; and anyone dislikes to meet Allah, Allah dislikes to meet him
‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Anyone loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him; and anyone dislikes to meet Allah, Allah dislikes to meet him." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, does this mean the aversion to death, for we all hate death?" He said: "It is not that, but when a believer is given (glad) tidings of the mercy of Allah, His Pleasure, and His Paradise, he loves to meet Allah, and Allah also loves to meet him. When a disbeliever is given (bad) tidings of the punishment of Allah and His wrath that shall afflict him, he dislikes to meet Allah and Allah also dislikes to meet him."
Indeed, Allah is the One who fixes prices, the Withholder, the Extender, and the Provider. Indeed, I wish to meet Allah while none of you will have any claim against me for an injustice regarding blood or property
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that people said: "O Messenger of Allah, the prices have shot up, so fix the prices for us." The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah is the One who fixes prices, the Withholder, the Extender, and the Provider. Indeed, I wish to meet Allah while none of you will have any claim against me for an injustice regarding blood or property."
Verily, Allah, Glorified and Exalted, is characterized by modesty and concealment, and He loves modesty and concealment. Therefore, when any of you bathes, let him conceal himself
Ya‘la ibn Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man bathing in an open area without a lower garment. So he mounted the pulpit, praised and extolled Allah, and said: "Verily, Allah, Glorified and Exalted, is characterized by modesty and concealment, and He loves modesty and concealment. Therefore, when any of you bathes, let him conceal himself."

Khawlah came to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) complaining about her husband, but I could not hear what she was saying
‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Praise be to Allah Whose hearing encompasses all voices. Khawlah came to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) complaining about her husband, but I could not hear what she was saying. Then Allah, Glorified and Exalted, revealed the verse: {Certainly has Allah heard the speech of the one who argues with you [O Muhammad] concerning her husband and directs her complaint to Allah. And Allah hears your dialogue.} [Sūrat al-Mujādilah: 1]."
Allah creates every maker and what he makes
Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah creates every maker and what he makes."
Allah is the Physician. You are only a kind man. The one who heals it is the One who created it
Abu Ramthah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he said to the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him): "Show me this thing on your back (to treat it), for I am a physician." The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Allah is the Physician. You are only a kind man. The one who heals it is the One who created it.”
Paradise and Hell argued with one another. Hell said: I have been assigned the arrogant and the tyrants. Paradise said: Why is it that only the weak, the insignificant, and the simple enter me?
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Paradise and Hell argued with one another. Hell said: ‘I have been assigned the arrogant and the tyrants.’ Paradise said: ‘Why is it that only the weak, the insignificant, and the simple enter me?’ Allah said to Paradise: ‘You are My Mercy by means of which I have mercy upon whomever I wish of My slaves.’ And He said to Hell: ‘You are My torment by means of which I torment whomever I wish of My slaves. Each of you will have its fill.’ As for Hell, it will not be filled until Allah, Blessed and Exalted, puts His Foot. It will say: ‘Enough, enough, enough!’ It will thus be filled, and its parts will come closer to each other. Indeed, Allah does not do injustice to any of His creatures. As for Paradise, Allah will create for it new creation (to fill it).”
People – or he said slaves - will be gathered on the Day of Judgment naked and uncircumcised
Jābir ibn ‘Abdullāh (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I was told about a Hadīth from a man who heard it from the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). So I bought a camel, prepared my baggage, and traveled for a month to reach him. I arrived at the Levant and found ‘Abdullāh ibn Unays. I said to the doorkeeper: "Tell him Jābir is at the door." He asked: "Ibn Abdullāh?" I said: ‘Yes.’ Unays came out, holding onto his garment and hugged me, and I hugged him too. I said: "I learnt that you heard a Hadīth about recompense from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and I was worried that you would die or I would die before hearing the Hadīth." So he said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) saying: 'People – or he said slaves - will be gathered on the Day of Judgment naked and uncircumcised, and having nothing.'" He continued: "Then they will be summoned by a voice that is heard from far and near: ‘I am the King, I am the Recompenser, and none of the people of Hell will enter Hell with a right over one of the people of Paradise until I settle his right. And none of the people of Paradise will enter Paradise owing a right to one of the people of Hell, until I offset his right, even if it was a slap (on the face).'" We said: “How could that be, when we come to Allah naked, uncircumcised and having nothing with us?” he said: “By the good and bad deeds."
Indeed, Allah is more merciful to His servants than this is to her child
‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Some captives were brought to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). Then a woman from among the captives was seen pressing milk from her breast to feed [a child], and whenever she found a baby among the captives, she would take him, press him to her chest, and nurse him. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) then said to us: "Do you think this (woman) would throw her child into the fire?" We said: No, not if she can prevent throwing it. He (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah is more merciful to His servants than this is to her child."
Once a dog was moving around a well, and it was about to die from thirst. When a prostitute from Children of Israel saw it, she removed her shoe, filled it with water, and gave it to the dog to drink. She was forgiven for that
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "While a man was walking on a road, he became very thirsty. He found a well and went down in it and drank. When he came out, there was a dog panting and eating moist earth out of thirst. The man said: 'This dog is so thirsty just as I was.' So, he went down into the well, filled his shoe with water and held it in his mouth until he climbed out. Then, he gave the dog water to drink. Allah accepted his deed and, thus, forgave him." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, are we rewarded for taking care of animals?" He said: "There is a reward for (quenching the thirst of) every living creature." Another narration reads: "Allah accepted his deed and, thus, forgave him and admitted him into Paradise." Another narration reads: "Once a dog was moving around a well, and it was about to die from thirst. When a prostitute from Children of Israel saw it, she removed her shoe, filled it with water, and gave it to the dog to drink. She was forgiven for that."
Faith is Yamān and wisdom is Yamāniyyah
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Faith is Yamān and wisdom is Yamāniyyah; and I find the breath of the Most Merciful from the direction of Yemen. Indeed disbelief, wrongdoing, and harsh hearts are found amongst those with loud obnoxious voices who raise goats and camels."
O Abu ‘Ā’ishah, there are three things, whoever speaks of one of them has fabricated a tremendous lie against Allah
Masrūq reported: I was reclining in the house of ‘Ā’ishah when she said: "O Abu ‘Ā’ishah, there are three things, whoever speaks of one of them has fabricated a tremendous lie against Allah; whoever claims that Muhammad (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) saw his Lord, then he has fabricated a tremendous lie against Allah." I was reclining, so I sat up an said: "O Mother of the Believers, give me enough time and do not be hasty! Did not Allah, Glorified and Exalted, say: {And truly he saw him on the clear horizon} [Sūrat At-Takwīr: 23] and: {He saw Him in another descent.} [Sūrat An-Najm: 13]?" She said: "I am the first of this Ummah who asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about it; and he said: ‘Verily it is Jibrīl. I have never seen him in his original form in which he was created except on those two occasions (to which these verses refer); I saw him descending from the heaven and filling (the space) from the sky to the earth with the greatness of his bodily structure.’ Have you not heard that Allah says: {Eyes comprehend Him not, but He comprehends (all) vision. and He is Subtle, and All-Aware} [Sūrat al-An‘ām: 103]? Have you not heard that Allah says: {And it is not for any human being that Allah should speak to him except by revelation or from behind a partition or that He sends a messenger to reveal, by His permission, what He wills. Indeed, He is Most High and Wise.} [Sūrat Ash-Shūra: 51]. The one who presumes that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace be upon him) concealed anything from the Book of Allah has fabricated the greatest lie against Allah. Allah says: {O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message} [Sūrat al-Mā’idah: 67]. The one who presumes that he would foretell what will happen tomorrow has fabricated the greatest lie against Allah. Allah, the Almighty says: {Say: None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah.} [Sūrat An-Naml: 65]"
إن الله تعالى يقول أنا خير شريك، من أشرك بي فهو لشريكي
عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: (إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى يَقُولُ أَنَا خَيْر شَرِيكٍ، مَن أشرك بِي فَهُوَ لشريكي، يَا أَيهَا النَّاسُ أَخْلِصُوا أَعْمَالَكُمْ للَّهِ، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَقْبَلُ مِنَ الْعَمَلِ إِلا مَا خَلُصَ، وَلا تَقُولُوا: هَذَا للَّهِ وَالرَّحِمِ. فَإِنَّهُ لِلرَّحِمِ، وَلَيْسَ للَّهِ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ، وَلا تَقُولُوا: هَذَا للَّهِ وَلِوُجُوهِكُمْ، فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ لِوُجُوهِكُمْ وَلَيْسَ للَّهِ فِيهِ شَيْء).
Whoever meets Allah without associating anything with Him, no sin will harm him along with it; and whoever dies while associating partners with Him, no good deed will benefit him along with it
‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever meets Allah without associating anything with Him, no sin will harm him along with it; and whoever dies while associating partners with Him, no good deed will benefit him along with it."
ولا الله عز وجل لا يلقي حبيبه في النار
عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: مَرَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي نَفَرٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ وَصَبِيٌّ فِي الطَّرِيقِ، فَلَمَّا رَأَتْ أُمُّهُ الْقَوْمَ خَشِيَتْ عَلَى وَلَدِهَا أَنْ يُوطَأَ، فَأَقْبَلَتْ تَسْعَى وَتَقُولُ: ابْنِي ابْنِي وَسَعَتْ فَأَخَذَتْهُ، فَقَالَ الْقَوْمُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، مَا كَانَتْ هَذِهِ لِتُلْقِيَ ابْنَهَا فِي النَّارِ. قَالَ: فَخَفَّضَهُمُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: "وَلَا اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَا يُلْقِي حَبِيبَهُ فِي النَّارِ".
Allah Almighty does not sleep, and it is not befitting of Him to sleep
Abu Mūsa (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood among us and said five statements: "Allah Almighty does not sleep, and it is not befitting of Him to sleep. He lowers the Scales and raises them. The deeds done during the night are taken up to Him before the deeds done during the day, and the deeds done during the day before the deeds done during the night. His veil is light— and in another version: fire—and if He were to remove it, the glory of His Face would burn everything of His creation as far as His sight extends."
يقول الله: إذا أراد عبدي أن يعمل سيئة فلا تكتبوها عليه حتى يعملها
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: "يَقُولُ اللَّهُ: إِذَا أَرَادَ عَبْدِي أَنْ يَعْمَلَ سَيِّئَةً، فَلاَ تَكْتُبُوهَا عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى يَعْمَلَهَا، فَإِنْ عَمِلَهَا فَاكْتُبُوهَا بِمِثْلِهَا، وَإِنْ تَرَكَهَا مِنْ أَجْلِي فَاكْتُبُوهَا لَهُ حَسَنَةً، وَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَعْمَلَ حَسَنَةً فَلَمْ يَعْمَلْهَا فَاكْتُبُوهَا لَهُ حَسَنَةً، فَإِنْ عَمِلَهَا فَاكْتُبُوهَا لَهُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا إِلَى سَبْعِمِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ".
هل تدرون مِمَّ أضحك
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: كُنَّا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَضَحِكَ، فَقَالَ: «هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مِمَّ أَضْحَكُ؟» قَالَ قُلْنَا: اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ، قَالَ: «مِنْ مُخَاطَبَةِ الْعَبْدِ رَبَّهُ، يَقُولُ: يَا رَبِّ أَلَمْ تُجِرْنِي مِنَ الظُّلْمِ؟ قَالَ: يَقُولُ: بَلَى، قَالَ: فَيَقُولُ: فَإِنِّي لَا أُجِيزُ عَلَى نَفْسِي إِلَّا شَاهِدًا مِنِّي، قَالَ: فَيَقُولُ: كَفَى بِنَفْسِكَ الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكَ شَهِيدًا، وَبِالْكِرَامِ الْكَاتِبِينَ شُهُودًا، قَالَ: فَيُخْتَمُ عَلَى فِيهِ، فَيُقَالُ لِأَرْكَانِهِ: انْطِقِي، قَالَ: فَتَنْطِقُ بِأَعْمَالِهِ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ يُخَلَّى بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْكَلَامِ، قَالَ فَيَقُولُ: بُعْدًا لَكُنَّ وَسُحْقًا، فَعَنْكُنَّ كُنْتُ أُنَاضِلُ».
لعن الله من ذبح لغير الله
عن أبي الطفيل، قال: سئل علي: أَخَصَّكُم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بشيء؟ فقال: ما خَصَّنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بشيء لم يَعُمَّ به الناس كافة، إلا ما كان في قِرَاب سيفي هذا، قال: فأخرج صحيفة مكتوب فيها: «لعن الله من ذبح لغير الله، ولعن الله من سرق منار الأرض، ولعن الله من لعن والده، ولعن الله من آوى مُحْدِثًا».
The keys of the unseen are five
Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "The keys of the unseen are five {Indeed, Allah has the knowledge of the Hour. He sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. No soul knows what it will do tomorrow, nor does any soul know in which land it will die. Indeed, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.}"
ماذا كنتم تقولون في الجاهلية إذا رُمِيَ بمثل هذا؟
عن عبد الله بن عباس قال: أخبرني رجل من أصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم من الأنصار أنهم بينما هم جلوسٌ ليلةً مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم رُمِيَ بنجمٍ فاستنار، فقال لهم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «ماذا كنتم تقولون في الجاهلية إذا رُمِيَ بمثل هذا؟» قالوا: الله ورسوله أعلم، كنا نقول: وُلِدَ الليلة رجل عظيم، ومات رجل عظيم. فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «فإنها لا يرمى بها لموت أحد ولا لحياته، ولكن ربنا تبارك وتعالى اسمه إذا قضى أمرًا سَبَّح حملةُ العرش، ثم سبح أهل السماء الذين يلونهم، حتى يبلغ التسبيح أهل هذه السماء الدنيا ثم قال: الذين يلون حملة العرش لحملة العرش: ماذا قال ربكم؟ فيخبرونهم ماذا قال، قال: فيستخبر بعض أهل السماوات بعضًا، حتى يبلغ الخبر هذه السماء الدنيا، فتخطف الجنُّ السمعَ فيقذفون إلى أوليائهم، ويرمون به، فما جاؤوا به على وجهه فهو حق، ولكنهم يَقْرِفون فيه ويزيدون».
ذاك الله عز وجل
عن البراء بن عازب في قوله تعالى: {إن الذين ينادونك من وراء الحجرات أكثرهم لا يعقلون} قال: قام رجل فقال: يا رسول الله إن حَمْدِي زَينٌ وإن ذَمِّي شَينٌ، فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: (ذاك الله عز وجل).
يعجب ربك عز وجل من راعي غنم في رأس شَظِيَّة بجبل يؤذن للصلاة ويصلي
عن عقبة بن عامر قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: "يعجب ربك عز وجل من راعي غنم في رأس شَظِيَّة بجبل، يؤذن للصلاة ويصلي، فيقول الله عز وجل: انظروا إلى عبدي هذا يؤذن ويقيم للصلاة، يخاف مني، قد غفرت لعبدي، وأدخلته الجنة".
اللهم إنا كنا نتوسل إليك بنبينا فتسقينا، وإنا نتوسل إليك بعم نبينا فاسقنا
عن أنس بن مالك أن عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه كان إذا قَحَطوا استسقى بالعباس بن عبد المطلب، فقال: اللهم إنا كنا نتوسل إليك بنبينا فتسقينا، وإنا نتوسل إليك بعم نبينا فاسقنا، قال: فيُسقَون.
جاء الحق وزهق الباطل، جاء الحق وما يبدئ الباطل وما يعيد
عن عبد الله بن مسعود رضي الله عنه قال: دخل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم مكة يوم الفتح وحول البيت ستون وثلاثُمائة نُصُبٍ، فجعل يَطعُنُها بِعُودٍ في يده، ويقول: «جاء الحق وزهق الباطل، جاء الحق وما يبدئ الباطل وما يعيد».
مِنَ الغَيرة ما يحب الله، ومنها ما يبغض الله
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَتِيك أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ: «مِنَ الْغَيْرَةِ مَا يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ، وَمِنْهَا مَا يُبْغِضُ اللَّهُ، فَأَمَّا الَّتِي يُحِبُّهَا اللَّهُ فَالْغَيْرَةُ فِي الرِّيبَةِ، وَأَمَّا الَّتِي يُبْغِضُهَا اللَّهُ فَالْغَيْرَةُ فِي غَيْرِ رِيبَةٍ، وَإِنَّ مِنَ الخُيَلَاءِ مَا يُبْغِضُ اللَّهُ، وَمِنْهَا مَا يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ، فَأَمَّا الْخُيَلَاءُ الَّتِي يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ فَاخْتِيَالُ الرَّجُلِ نَفْسَهُ عِنْدَ الْقِتَالِ، وَاخْتِيَالُهُ عِنْدَ الصَّدَقَةِ، وَأَمَّا الَّتِي يُبْغِضُ اللَّهُ فَاخْتِيَالُهُ فِي الْبَغْيِ» وفي رِوَايةٍ: «وَالْفَخْرِ».
Verily, Allah is pleased with three things for you and is displeased with three things for you
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Verily, Allah is pleased with three things for you and is displeased with three things for you. He is pleased for you: to worship Him, not to associate anything with Him, and to hold fast to the rope of Allah altogether and not to be disunited; and He dislikes for you: idle talk, excessive questioning, and wasting money."
سألت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، هل رأيتَ ربَّك؟ قال: نورٌ أنَّى أَراه
عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: هَلْ رَأَيْتَ رَبَّكَ؟ قَالَ: «نُورٌ أَنَّى أَرَاهُ»
A man came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I am weary
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: A man came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "I am weary." So he sent to one of his wives, but she said: "By the One Who has sent you with the truth, I have nothing (to serve him) but water." He then sent to another one of his wives, and she gave the same reply, until all of them gave the same reply: "By the One who has sent you with the truth, I have nothing but water." Thereupon, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who will receive that (man) as a guest tonight?" A man from the Ansār said: "O Messenger of Allah, I will." He took him to his house and said to his wife: "Be generous to the guest of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him)." In another narration, he said to his wife: "Do you have anything (to serve the guest)?" She said: "No, nothing but food for my boys." He said: "Distract their attention with something, and when they ask for dinner, put them to bed. When our guest enters, extinguish the lamp and give him the impression that we are eating." So they sat down. The guest had his meal, whereas they went to sleep feeling hungry. When it was morning, he went to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) who said: "Allah was well pleased with what you both did for your guest last night."
Indeed, Allah is benevolent and He loves benevolence to everything. So, if you kill, kill benevolently, and if you slaughter, slaughter benevolently. Let one of you sharpen his blade and relieve his animal of suffering
Shaddād ibn Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: There are two things which I learned by heart from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him): "Indeed, Allah is benevolent and He loves benevolence to everything. So, if you kill, kill benevolently, and if you slaughter, slaughter benevolently. Let one of you sharpen his blade and relieve his animal of suffering."
No Muslim regularly attends the mosques to perform prayer and remember Allah, but Allah is delighted for him just as the family of one who was away, is delighted upon his return
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No Muslim regularly attends the mosques to perform prayer and remember Allah, but Allah is delighted for him just as the family of one who was away, is delighted upon his return."
I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) reciting it and putting his two fingers
Abu Yunus Sulaym ibn Jubayr, the freed slave of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), reported: I heard Abu Hurayrah recite this verse: {Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice. Excellent is that which Allah instructs you. Indeed, Allah is ever Hearing and Seeing} [Sūrat An-Nisā': 58]. He said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) put his thumb on his ear and the finger next to it on his eye." Abu Hurayrah said : "I saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) reciting it (this verse) and putting his two fingers."
Bear in mind, O Abu Mas‘ūd, that Allah has more power over you than you have over this boy. I said: I will never beat a slave ever again
Abu Mas‘ūd al-Badri (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I was whipping a slave boy of mine when I heard a voice behind me saying: "Bear in mind, O Abu Mas‘ūd!" I did not recognize the voice out of anger. When he came near me, I found that it was the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) who was saying: "Bear in mind, O Abu Mas‘ūd, that Allah has more power over you than you have over this boy." I said: "I will never beat a slave ever again." In another narration: "The whip dropped from my hand in awe of him." And in yet another narration: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, he is free for the sake of Allah, the Exalted.' Thereupon he said: 'If you had not done so (i.e. free him), the fire would have scorched you, or the fire would have touched you."
My Lord, support me and do not support others against me; grant me victory and do not grant others victory over me; plan for me and do not plan against me; guide me and make my guidance easy for me; grant me victory against whoever wronged me
Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate: "My Lord, support me and do not support others against me; grant me victory and do not grant others victory over me; plan for me and do not plan against me; guide me and make my guidance easy for me; grant me victory against whoever wronged me. O Allah, make me grateful to You, remembering You, fearful of You, obedient to You, and humble to You or returning to You in repentance. O Lord, accept my repentance, wash away my sins, answer my supplication, establish my proof (words), guide my heart, make my tongue speak the truth, and take resentment (hatred) away from my heart."
In prayer, nothing of people's ordinary speech is allowed. Only Tasbīh, Takbīr, and recitation of the Qur'an are allowed
Mu‘āwiyah ibn al-Hakam As-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: While I was praying with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) a man sneezed, so I said: "May Allah have mercy upon you." People looked at me disapprovingly, so I said: "May my mother lose me, why do you stare at me?" They began to strike their thighs with their hands, and when I saw them urging me to be silent I said nothing. When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer – and may my father and mother be sacrificed for him! I have never seen a mentor before him nor after him who gave better instruction than him. By Allah, he neither scolded me, nor beat me, nor insulted me, rather he said: ‘In prayer, nothing of people's ordinary speech is allowed. Only Tasbīh, Takbīr, and recitation of the Qur'an are allowed." Or he said something similar to that. Then I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have recently abandoned the beliefs of the pre-Islamic era, and Allah has brought Islam to us, and there are men among us who go to diviners." He said: "Do not go to them." I said: "There are men who believe in omens." He said: "That is something which they find in their hearts, but let it not prevent them (from doing whatever they intend to do) (Ibn As-Sabbāh said: let it not prevent you)." I said: "Among us are men who draw lines." He said: "There was a prophet who used to draw lines, so if their lines are as his, then that will be good." He (Mu‘āwiyah) added: "I had a bondmaid who tended sheep for me by the side of Uhud and Al-Jawwāniyyah. One day, I happened to pass that way and found that a wolf had snatched a ewe from her flock. As a normal human being, I got angry and gave her a slap. Then I came to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) who considered my act of slapping her grievous, so I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, should I emancipate her?' He said: 'Bring her to me.' So I brought her to him, and he said to her: 'Where is Allah?' She said: 'He is in the heaven.' He said: 'Who am I?' She said: 'You are the Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Set her free, for she is a believing woman.'"
