استغفروا لأخيكم وسلوا له بالتثبيت فإنه الآن يسأل
عن عثمان بن عفان قال: كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا فرغ من دفن الميت وقف عليه فقال: "استغفروا لأخيكم وسلوا له بالتثبيت؛ فإنه الآن يسأل".
الْحَدُوا لي لحدًا، وانصبوا علي اللبن نصبًا، كما صنع برسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم
عن سعد بن أبي وقاص أنه قال في مرضه الذي هلك فيه: الْحَدُوا لي لحدًا، وانصِبوا عليَّ اللَّبِن نصبًا، كما صنع برسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم.
أما هو فقد جاءه اليقين، إني لأرجو له الخير من الله
عن أم العلاء قالت: طار لنا عثمان بن مظعون في السكنى، حين اقترعت الأنصار على سكنى المهاجرين، فاشتكى فمرَّضْناه حتى توفي، ثم جعلناه في أثوابه، فدخل علينا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقلت: رحمة الله عليك أبا السائب، فشهادتي عليك لقد أكرمك الله، قال: «وما يدريك» قلت: لا أدري والله، قال: «أما هو فقد جاءه اليقين، إني لأرجو له الخير من الله، والله ما أدري -وأنا رسول الله- ما يفعل بي ولا بكم» قالت أم العلاء: فوالله لا أزكي أحدا بعده، قالت: ورأيت لعثمان في النوم عينا تجري، فجئت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فذكرت ذلك له، فقال: «ذاك عمله يجري له».
إن الملائكة كانت تمشي، فلم أكن لأركب وهم يمشون، فلما ذهبوا ركبت
عن ثوبان أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أُتِيَ بدابة وهو مع الجنازة، فأبى أن يركبها، فلما انصرف أتي بدابة فركب، فقيل له، فقال: "إن الملائكة كانت تمشي، فلم أكن لأركب وهم يمشون، فلما ذهبوا ركبت".
أنه رأى قبر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم مُسَنَّمًا
عن سفيان التَّمَّار أنه رأى قبر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم مُسَنَّمًا.
المؤمن يموت بعرق الجبين
عن بريدة عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه قال: «المؤمن يموت بعرق الجبين».
احفروا وأعمقوا وأحسنوا، وادفنوا الاثنين والثلاثة في قبر واحد
عن هشام بن عامر قال: شكونا إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم أحد، فقلنا: يا رسول الله، الحفر علينا -لكلِّ إنسانٍ- شديدٌ؟ فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «احفروا وأعمقوا وأحسنوا، وادفنوا الاثنين والثلاثة في قبر واحد»، قالوا: فمن نُقدِّم يا رسول الله؟ قال: «قدِّموا أكثرَهم قرآنًا»، قال: فكان أبي ثالث ثلاثة في قبر واحد.
ما يقال عند إدخال الميت في القبر
عن ابن عمر أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان إذا وَضَعَ الميت في القبر قال: "بسم الله، وعلى سنة رسول الله".
كسر عظم الميت ككسره حيًّا
عن عائشة أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: "كسر عظم الميت ككسره حيًّا".
أوصى الحارث أن يصلي عليه عبد الله بن يزيد
عن أبي إسحاق قال: أوصى الحارث أن يصلي عليه عبد الله بن يزيد، فصلى عليه، ثم أدخله القبر من قبل رجلي القبر، وقال: هذا من السنة.
يا صاحب السِّبْتِيَّتَين، ويحك، ألق سِبْتَيَّتَيكَ
عن بَشير بن نَهيك عن بَشير مولى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وكان اسمه في الجاهلية زَحْمَ بنَ مَعْبد، فهاجر إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: "ما اسمك؟ " قال: زَحْم، قال: "بل أنت بشير"، قال: بينما أنا أماشي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم مَرَّ بقبور المشركين، فقال: "لقد سبق هؤلاء خيرًا كثيرًا" ثلاثًا، ثم مر بقبور المسلمين، فقال: "لقد أدرك هؤلاء خيرًا كثيرًا" وحانت من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم نظرةً، فإذا رجلٌ يمشي في القبور عليه نعلان، فقال: "يا صاحب السِّبْتِيَّتَين، ويحك، ألق سِبْتَيَّتَيكَ" فنظر الرجل، فلما عرف رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم خلعهما فرمى بهما.
موت الفجأة أخذة أَسِفٍ
عن عُبيد بن خالد السلمي -رجل من أصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم- رفعه مرة ووقفه مرة: "موت الفَجْأة أَخْذَةُ أَسَفٍ".
ما منعك أن تجيبني في المرتين الأوليين؟ إني لم أنوِّه بكم إلا خيرًا، إن صاحبكم مأسور بدينه
عَنْ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ: خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: «هَاهُنَا أَحَدٌ مِنْ بَنِي فُلَانٍ؟» فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ أَحَدٌ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «هَاهُنَا أَحَدٌ مِنْ بَنِي فُلَانٍ؟» فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ أَحَدٌ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «هَاهُنَا أَحَدٌ مِنْ بَنِي فُلَانٍ؟» فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ: أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تُجِيبَنِي فِي الْمَرَّتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ؟ إِنِّي لَمْ أُنَوِّهْ بِكُمْ إِلَّا خَيْرًا، إِنَّ صَاحِبَكُمْ مَأْسُورٌ بِدَيْنِهِ»، فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ أُدِّي عَنْهُ حَتَّى مَا أَحَدٌ يَطْلُبُهُ بِشَيْءٍ.
كنا جلوسًا عند النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، إذ أُتِيَ بجنازة، فقالوا: صلِّ عليها
عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الأَكْوَعِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، إِذْ أُتِيَ بِجَنَازَةٍ، فَقَالُوا: صَلِّ عَلَيْهَا، فَقَالَ: «هَلْ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ؟»، قَالُوا: لَا، قَالَ: «فَهَلْ تَرَكَ شَيْئًا؟»، قَالُوا: لَا، فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ أُتِيَ بِجَنَازَةٍ أُخْرَى، فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، صَلِّ عَلَيْهَا، قَالَ: «هَلْ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ؟» قِيلَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: «فَهَلْ تَرَكَ شَيْئًا؟»، قَالُوا: ثَلاَثَةَ دَنَانِيرَ، فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهَا، ثُمَّ أُتِيَ بِالثَّالِثَةِ، فَقَالُوا: صَلِّ عَلَيْهَا، قَالَ: «هَلْ تَرَكَ شَيْئًا؟»، قَالُوا: لَا، قَالَ: «فَهَلْ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ؟»، قَالُوا: ثَلاَثَةُ دَنَانِيرَ، قَالَ: «صَلُّوا عَلَى صَاحِبِكُمْ»، قَالَ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ: صَلِّ عَلَيْهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَعَلَيَّ دَيْنُهُ، فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ.
One of the sons of Abu Talha was ailing. Abu Talha went out and the boy died in his absence
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: One of the sons of Abu Talha was ailing. Abu Talha went out and the boy died in his absence. When he came back, he inquired: "How is the boy?" Umm Sulaym, the boy’s mother, replied: "He could not be more tranquil than he is now." She served him supper, and he ate it and then they had sexual intercourse. Afterwards, she said to him: "Arrange for the burial of the boy." In the morning, Abu Talha went to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him of what had happened. He asked: "Did you sleep together last night?" Abu Talha said: ‘Yes.’ So the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated: "O Allah, bless them." Later, she gave birth to a baby boy. Abu Talha said to me: "Pick up the boy and take him to the Prophet." He sent some dates with him. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Is there anything with him?" He said: "Yes, some dates." The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) took a date, chewed it, and put it in the mouth of the baby, rubbing the chewed date around the baby's gum. He named him ‘Abdullāh. In another version: Ibn ‘Uyaynah reported: “A man from the Ansār said: ‘I saw nine sons (of this boy), all of whom were reciters of the Qur’an.’” Another version reads: “Abu Talha’s son from Umm Sulaym died. She asked family members not to tell Abu Talha about his son, as she would inform him herself. Abu Talha came home and she gave him supper. He ate and drank. She then beautified herself in the best way she had ever done, and he slept with her. Noticing that he was gratified, she said: ‘O Abu Talha. If some people borrow something from another family and then the lenders ask for their item, would they refuse to give it back to them?’ He said: ‘No.’ She said: ‘Then, seek divine reward for the loss of your son.’ Abu Talha got angry and said: ‘You did not tell me this until I stained myself (with sexual intercourse), and now you tell me about my son!’ He went to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and told him about the matter, and he said: ‘May Allah bless the night you spent together!’ And she conceived a child. One day the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey and she was with him. Whenever he came back from a journey to Madīnah, he would not enter it at night. As they approached Madīnah, she felt labor pains. Abu Talha remained with her and the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) carried on. Abu Talha said: ‘O Lord, You know that I love to go out with the Messenger of Allah when he goes out and enter with him when he enters, and I have been detained as You see.’ Umm Sulaym said: ‘O Abu Talha, I do not feel as much pain as I was feeling earlier, so we had better move on.’ We carried on and she felt the birth pangs as they reached Madīnah and gave birth to a baby boy. My mother said to me: ‘O Anas, no one should suckle him until you take him to the Messenger of Allah in the early morning. Next morning, I carried the baby to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him… and he narrated the rest of the story.
Do not weep for my brother after this day
‘Abdullāh ibn Ja‘far (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) gave the family of Ja‘far a three-days respite. He then came to them and said: "Do not weep for my brother after this day." He then said: "Call for me the children of my brother." We were brought over to him as if we were (bereft) chicks. Then he said: "Call for me a barber." He then ordered him to shave our heads.
An-Nu‘mān ibn Bashīr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: ‘Abdullāh ibn Rawāhah (may Allah be pleased with him) fell down unconscious, so his sister started crying. She said: "O my mountain! O so-and-so!" and went on calling him by his good qualities one by one. When he came to his senses, he said: "Whenever you said something, I was asked: 'Are you really so?'"

O so-and-so!" and went on calling him by his good qualities one by one. When he came to his senses, he said: "Whenever you said something, I was asked: 'Are you really so?'"
أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حين توفي سجي ببُرْدٍ حِبَرَة
عن عائشة رضي الله عنها زوج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أخبرته: «أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حين توفي سجي ببُرْدٍ حِبَرَة».
كان زيد بن أرقم يكبر على جنائزنا أربعًا، وإنه كبر على جنازة خمسًا
عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى، قال: كان زيد -أي ابن أرقم- يكبر على جنائزنا أربعا، وإنه كبر على جنازة خمسًا، فسألته فقال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يكبرها.
أيُّهم أكثرُ أخذًا للقرآن
عن جابر بن عبد الله رضي الله عنهما قال: كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يجمع بين الرجلين من قتلى أحد في ثوب واحد، ثم يقول: «أيُّهم أكثرُ أخذًا للقرآن»، فإذا أشير له إلى أحدهما قدمه في اللحد، وقال: «أنا شهيد على هؤلاء يوم القيامة»، وأمر بدفنهم في دمائهم، ولم يغسلوا، ولم يُصَلِّ عليهم.
إذا رأى أحدكم جنازةً فإلم يكن ماشيًا معها، فليقم حتى يُخلِّفها
عن عامر بن ربيعة رضي الله عنه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «إذا رأى أحدكم جنازةً فإلم يكن ماشيًا معها فليقم حتى يُخلِّفها أو تُخلِّفَه أو توضع من قبل أن تخلفه».
رأينا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قام فقمنا وقعد فقعدنا
عن علي قال: رأينا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قام فقمنا وقعد فقعدنا. يعني في الجنازة.
السقط يصلى عليه ويدعى لوالديه بالمغفرة والرحمة
عن المغيرة بن شعبة عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: "الراكب يسير خلف الجنازة، والماشي يمشي خلفها وأمامها، وعن يمينها وعن يسارها، قريبًا منها، والسقط يصلى عليه ويدعى لوالديه بالمغفرة والرحمة".
Verily, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) disavowed the Sāliqah (wailing woman), the Hāliqah (shaving woman), and the Shāqqah (woman tearing garment)
Abu Burdah ibn Abi Mūsa (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: Abu Mūsa was in such severe pain that he lost consciousness while his head was in the lap of a woman from his family, and he was unable to respond to her in any way. Upon regaining his consciousness, he said: I dissociate myself from whoever the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) dissociated himself from. Verily, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) disavowed the Sāliqah (wailing woman), the Hāliqah (shaving woman), and the Shāqqah (woman tearing garment).
May the curse of Allah be upon the Jews and Christians; they took the graves of their prophets as mosques
‘Ā’ishah, Mother of the Believers, (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said during his illness from which he did not recover: "May the curse of Allah be upon the Jews and Christians; they took the graves of their prophets as mosques." She said: If it were not for that, his grave would be made prominent; yet, it was feared that it might be taken as a mosque.
