Breastfeeding produces the same interdiction that childbirth produces
‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Breastfeeding produces the same interdiction that childbirth produces."
ائذني له، فإنه عمك، تربت يمينك
عن عائشة قالت: إن أفلحَ أخا أبي القُعَيس استأذن عليَّ بعدما نزل الحجاب، فقلت: والله لا آذن له حتى أستأذن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فإن أخا أبي القعيس ليس هو أرضعني، ولكن أرضعتني امرأة أبي القعيس، فدخل علي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقلت: يا رسول الله، إن الرجل ليس هو أرضعني، ولكن أرضعتني امرأته، قال: «ائذني له، فإنه عمك، تربت يمينك». عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: إِنَّ أَفْلَحَ أَخَا أَبِي القُعَيْسِ اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَيَّ بَعْدَ مَا نَزَلَ الحِجَابُ، فَقُلْتُ: وَاللَّهِ لاَ آذَنُ لَهُ حَتَّى أَسْتَأْذِنَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَإِنَّ أَخَا أَبِي القُعَيْسِ لَيْسَ هُوَ أَرْضَعَنِي، وَلَكِنْ أَرْضَعَتْنِي امْرَأَةُ أَبِي القُعَيْسِ، فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيْسَ هُوَ أَرْضَعَنِي، وَلَكِنْ أَرْضَعَتْنِي امْرَأَتُهُ؟ قَالَ: «ائْذَنِي لَهُ، فَإِنَّهُ عَمُّكِ، تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكِ» قَالَ عُرْوَةُ: فَبِذَلِكَ كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ، تَقُولُ: حَرِّمُوا مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ النَّسَبِ.
لا تحل لي، يحرم من الرضاع: ما يحرم من النسب، وهي ابنة أخي من الرضاعة
عن عبد الله بن عباس رضي الله عنهما «قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في بنت حمزة: لا تحل لي، يحرم من الرضاع: ما يحرم من النسب، وهي ابنة أخي من الرضاعة».
Once the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) entered upon me while a man was in my house. He said: O ‘Ā'ishah, who is this (man)? I replied: He is my brother from breastfeeding. He said: O ‘Ā'ishah, be careful who you (women) count as your brothers from breastfeeding, for the breastfeeding (that makes marriage prohibited) is only that which satisfies hunger
‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: Once the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) entered upon me while a man was in my house. He said: "O ‘Ā'ishah, who is this (man)?" I replied: "He is my brother from breastfeeding." He said: "O ‘Ā'ishah, be careful who you (women) count as your brothers from breastfeeding, for the breastfeeding (that makes marriage prohibited) is only that which satisfies hunger (takes place in the suckling period, the first two years of one's life)."
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said concerning the daughter of Hamzah: She is not lawful for me (to marry). That which is unlawful due to lineage (blood relation) is unlawful due to breastfeeding. She is the daughter of my foster-brother.
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said concerning the daughter of Hamzah: ''She is not lawful for me (to marry). That which is unlawful due to lineage (blood relation) is unlawful due to breastfeeding. She is the daughter of my foster-brother.''
One or two sucks do not render marriage prohibited
‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: ''One or two sucks do not render marriage prohibited.''
It was revealed in the Qur'an that: ten times of breastfeeding known with certainty establish prohibition (Mahram relationship through breastfeeding); then that was abrogated and replaced with five times of breastfeeding known with certainty. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) died while these (words of the abrogating verse) were still being recited as part of the Qur'an

No prohibition results from suckling, except for what penetrates the intestines from the breast before weaning
Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: ''No prohibition results from suckling, except for what penetrates the intestines from the breast before weaning.''
How can you (keep your wife) when she (the slave-woman) has claimed that she suckled both of you?
‘Uqbah ibn al-Hārith (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he had married Umm Yahya bint Abi Ihāb. Then a black slave-woman came and said: "I suckled you both." I mentioned that to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) who turned his face aside. So I went to the other side and told him about it (again). He said: "How can you (keep your wife) when she (the slave-woman) has claimed that she suckled both of you?!"
Even if she was not my stepdaughter whom I raised, she would still be unlawful for me because she is my niece through suckling. Thuwaybah breastfed me and Abu Salāmah (her father). So, do not offer me your daughters or sisters
Umm Habībah bint Abu Sufyān (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that she said: "O Messenger of Allah, marry my sister, the daughter of Abu Sufyān." He said: "Would you like that?" I said: "Yes, for I cannot have you for myself alone, and I like my sister to be the one who shares with me that goodness." The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is not lawful for me." She said: "We heard that you want to marry the daughter of Abu Salamah." He said: "The daughter of Umm Salamah?" She said: 'Yes.' He said: "Even if she was not my stepdaughter whom I raised, she would still be unlawful for me because she is my niece through suckling. Thuwaybah breastfed me and Abu Salamah (her father). So, do not offer me your daughters or sisters (in marriage)." ‘Urwah said that Thuwaybah was an emancipated slave girl of Abu Lahab, and she breastfed the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). When Abu Lahab died, one of his family members saw him in a vision in an awful state. He said to him: "What did you find?" Abu Lahab said: "I found no good after you, except that I have been given water to drink in this (the space between his thumb and other fingers) and that is because of my emancipation of Thuwaybah."
Suckle him, and you will become unlawful for him (in marriage), and (the discomfort) which Abu Hudhayfah feels in his heart will disappear
‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that Sālim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhayfah, was with Abu Hudhayfah and his family in their home. Bint Suhayl came to the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Sālim has attained puberty, and he now perceives what they perceive, yet he enters our house freely, and I believe that something (troubles) the heart of Abu Hudhayfah." Thereupon the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Suckle him, and you will become unlawful for him (in marriage), and (the discomfort) which Abu Hudhayfah feels in his heart will disappear." She returned and said: "So I suckled him, and what (was there) in the heart of Abu Hudhayfah disappeared."
